Yeah guy just needs to stay on the mound. After this year, he'll have what, 3 years of control? And if he can stay healthy and pitch great, there's no chance of an extension anyway.

Does anyone else just not have interest in catchers in the first round? I know you need depth at every position, but it's a spot that sits the most often and is a premium position where defense is more important than offense. You could always try finding a defensive-first catcher to hit 9th in free agency later in the rebuild if the top guys like Collins and Zavala flame out.

Might have to do with the guys on the mound. Hard to frame a pitch when you miss your locations consistently.

Exactly. The only reason a team would trade for him is the reason I gave on the previous page. And saying he's worth B-level prospects is pretty laughable. Not that I wouldn't love to be proven wrong, however.

Same. The lineup would look better with Palka hitting 4th playing RF. Or even like 6th or 7th if you wanted to take him out in the 6th/7th inning for a better defender depending on the score and when he last batted.

I wouldn't predict the Red Sox at all for a 1B. Right now, they likely have the only other All-Star game worthy 1B in the AL.

Might as well play Palka in LF. I know I know...lefty lefty matchup. But this is a rebuild year and you might as well see if he can hold his own against lefties (currently 7-20 on the year; .350 avg, .435 OBP and 2 bombs; yes small sample size but still). Edit: oops I saw the lineup without looking at who was pitching in the first post and assumed a lefty was on the mound. My bad. But my point still stands lol

And drafting Madrigal now doesn't prevent them from acquiring or signing a third basemen with power in "the next year or two." If they drafted someone who fit that profile, you're talking about that player coming up within the next 2-3 years anyway most likely.

Exactly. As someone else said during the draft, what do teams like the Cubs, Astros, Yankees, Dodgers do when they have a glut of the same positions? They find another spot for them. Honestly, some guys are talented and skilled enough to play other positions and pick up on them quick. Edit: also, if we don't have a primary DH in a few years, that could be used to rotate and keep guys fresh on a game-by-game basis.

Yeah, you don't have to hit 20-30+ homers to be considered a good hitter. Also, he ball being juiced at the MLB level makes me unconcerned about smaller guys hitting homers. He could definitely end up hitting anywhere between 10-20 homers and I wouldn't be shocked. Tim Anderson is on pace to hit over 30 for Christ sake.
