Moncada first homer!
On Buehrle day, for one of the first career homers hit that day, one of them landed in the same row my cousin was sitting in. The ushers came and got the guy with the ball and walked away, probably to make a trade for the ball.

QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jul 27, 2017 -> 07:42 AM) Can we make sure Lucius Fox is part of the package coming back to the Sox? I love that name so yes.

QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Jul 27, 2017 -> 03:26 AM) Leaving for the Vegas bachelor party on Saturday! We rented a cabana for Monday, so we are mostly looking forward to that. Did the same when I was there for a bachelor party. Lot's of fun. Plenty of girls around to talk to.

Jennings + Melky. Boom.

Ump isn't calling low strike and calling off the corner.

DH already paying off for Cubs.

Avi Garcia to the DL
If Cordell wasn't hurt, he could have gotten his shot.

Anthony Swarzak to Brewers; Sox receive Ryan Cordell
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 26, 2017 -> 04:19 PM) Went to Liberty University too, I believe, and he was very raw coming out of college. Doesn't surprise me in the least that they took it as slow with him as they did. Oh I didn't know that. Thanks. Still encouraging that he has hit along the way.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 26, 2017 -> 04:17 PM) Chuck GarfienVerified account @ChuckGarfien 10m10 minutes ago Hahn says they're still talking deals. Nothing huge but says "something might materialize between now and the deadline." Melky and Gonzalez are two I would expect to be gone for sure. Wishing Shields as well. Edit: just checked Shields stats. Doing worse than I thought.

Avi Garcia to the DL
Now imagine a lineup where Melky is traded in next 5 days and Abreu gets a day off while Avi is on the dl.

Avi Garcia to the DL
Who gets called up? Willy?

Avi Garcia to the DL
Wow, this lineup can get worse.

Anthony Swarzak to Brewers; Sox receive Ryan Cordell
It's actually kind of weird Cordell was brought along slowly. Looking at his stats, he has hit at every level that he's played. Probably more of a "what position is he going to play?" situation. If the Brewers didn't have so much OF depth this year, he probably would have gotten a shot sooner.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 26, 2017 -> 04:04 PM) Relevant. Jerry CrasnickVerified account @jcrasnick 55m55 minutes ago The chances of #Orioles Zach Britton being traded are growing slimmer by the day. Market for Britton simply hasn't developed. Yeah it's not really a good market to deal him...since there are a bunch of other relievers out there.

Anthony Swarzak to Brewers; Sox receive Ryan Cordell
QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 26, 2017 -> 03:57 PM) I'm unconvinced Baltimore is selling...Angelos is nuts. l did forget about Phelps - good catch. Updated list because I forgot Tigers anyway. Also, Brach and Britton being only under control through next season is why I put them on. And there's been rumors.

Anthony Swarzak to Brewers; Sox receive Ryan Cordell
Relievers moved so far: Robertson Kahnle Swarzak Mauer Madson Doolittle Phelps Relievers likely available: Hand J. Wilson McGowan A. Wilson Stammen Brach Britton Ramos Neshek Benoit Storen Strickland (his name has popped up in rumors) And then add in any reliever on a team in contention and around .500 (Pirates, Cardinals, Angels, etc.) that could decide to sell a few rental BP pieces in the next 5 days. Plus any team selling back-end rotation guys who may end up in a team's bullpen.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 26, 2017 -> 03:41 PM) You mean the price Hahn has accepted for relievers? Billy Beane's deal with Washington is starting to look better and better. No one really gave any praise to Beane in that deal if I recall.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 26, 2017 -> 03:38 PM) Yeah, I hear you, but I guess we need to see how the next 5 days go. I don't think this is nearly the buyer's market as it's been made out to be. Well the price relievers have gone for so far and the fact there are a lot still out there would make it seem differently. Not really sure why you think otherwise. Seems the only one with wool over their eyes is you.

Reinsdorf Needed Convincing to Trade with Cubs
QUOTE (SonofaRoache @ Jul 26, 2017 -> 03:03 PM) Are there any teams you dislike? If yes what are the reasons? ALC teams since what they do on the field effects where we finish in the standings.

Anthony Swarzak to Brewers; Sox receive Ryan Cordell
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 26, 2017 -> 03:13 PM) I know and he's got the built in excuse if he stinks the rest of this year -- bad back. I liked the numbers I saw from this guy even though he's old, or at least was intrigued by the numbers so I am moderately excited for him, but it'd probably be better he not get his call up until next season when he's healthy. Let Engel continue to have his day this year. He can play LF once Melky is moved.

Melky thread
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 26, 2017 -> 03:06 PM) The Sox taking on Clippard is essentially the White Sox sending the Yankees $4 million. Yep. It wasn't like the Sox took Clippard over another prospect in the deal.

Anthony Swarzak to Brewers; Sox receive Ryan Cordell
QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 26, 2017 -> 02:58 PM) I admit I know nothing about this guy, and so hopefully he changes my mind. That said, I would have preferred to get something like what the Red Sox gave the Giants for Nunez. A younger kid with some upside that may pay off much more down the road. I think this is an interesting discussion to have...but I think the GMs that are buying are really pulling the wool over the eyes of the selling GMs right now in terms of reliever value. Teams are basically able to land some quality relievers, which are becoming more and more integral in the postseason than ever, for almost nothing. What is the point of even spending much money on the bullpen at this point? Why take the risk of signing a reliever to a 3/15 contract when I can just wait and see if I'm in contention, and then drop my 20th rated prospect for a rental that makes nothing? The market has shifted so ridiculously towards prospects that it's going to continue to eat into the salaries paid to average veterans and cause labor issues. It's a buyer's market with a ton of relievers still to be moved. That's why this is happening.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 26, 2017 -> 01:23 PM) He was old for his level last year and in Colorado Springs this year. But it's possible. Does anyone have any idea when he will be able to play again? Couple weeks apparently.

Vacation/Travel Thread
QUOTE (The Critic @ Jul 26, 2017 -> 01:21 PM) The last two years I've done solo Vegas vacations, and I love it! I miss my wife and daughter, no doubt, but it is so great to not worry about anyone else's schedule or being ready or being tired (or if I get tired or want to cancel something). There are pluses and minuses to traveling solo, but for me there were more pluses. f*** it. Just the validation I need to book a trip.
