Anthony Swarzak to Brewers; Sox receive Ryan Cordell
QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 26, 2017 -> 07:41 AM) You missed the s***show, sorry. Saw the one tweet about a scout saying we'd get a prospect outside of top 150 (if that's what you're defining as vast majority) and they did exactly that. No top 150 prospect.

Anthony Swarzak to Brewers; Sox receive Ryan Cordell
QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 25, 2017 -> 11:09 PM) I called people sheep for accusing me of being an idiot for wanting a player better than Ryan Cordell, when that was nowhere near what the vast majority was speculating prior to the deal occurring. Just because Rick Hahn made the trade doesn't suddenly mean we all have to think it's wonderful, does it? And yet that is what is expected here. See the difference? Vast majority of...posters on this board who aren't scouts or gms? Only thing we all know (except you apparently) is that it is a buyer's market.

Anthony Swarzak to Brewers; Sox receive Ryan Cordell
QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 25, 2017 -> 10:34 PM) There is something called groupthink that happens, and it absolutely happens here. Compare the threads discussing what we think should be the returns for players, and then compare the actual returns for players. The difference is ridiculous. Yeah...that just means we were shooting to high. Whats your point? We're not gms or scouts who can evaluate trade value.

Anthony Swarzak to Brewers; Sox receive Ryan Cordell
QUOTE (Tony @ Jul 25, 2017 -> 10:16 PM) For 48 innings. At 31 years of age. Coming off a season where he posted a 5.52 ERA. Who registered his first career save this week. Who is a FA at the end of the season. He just isn't a valuable investment to make for a team. Do you think Hahn passed up a package that was better? Do you think he could have negotiated a better deal with another team? Easy to say "Hahn should have gotten more!" without actually knowing what was offered.

Anthony Swarzak to Brewers; Sox receive Ryan Cordell
He's having a great year, but there were factors working against the Sox dealing Swarzak: other relievers still on market, the fact he is a rental, and no track record.

League Wide Speculation
Looking like Gray and Alonso are going to Oak. Not official yet.

A Swarzak + Melky package to a contender
QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jul 25, 2017 -> 02:57 PM) I wouldn't object to keeping Melky around. When Abreu DH's, Melky plays LF and when Melky DH's Abreu can play 1B. Most of the Sox best hitting talent is a few years away anyway so Melky wouldn't be blocking any young talent. I got nothing against the Melkmeister. I'm good trading him for whatever and then bringimg him back.

07/25 GT: Sox @ Cubs game 2, 1:20 PM
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 25, 2017 -> 04:25 PM) Something that is ridiculous is the media will focus on Hawk's rant after the game instead of Lackey hitting more people than Addison Russell Was Lackey hitting guys intentionally? Why does this always have to be the case? Can't it be that a guy just sucks and hit 4 guys? What did he even say?

A Swarzak + Melky package to a contender
QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 25, 2017 -> 07:43 AM) I dunno, they still have Hicks too, who was having a big year before injuring his oblique. Ah, I forgot about Hicks. He's been good for them. Probably allows them to play Ellsbury in LF if they want to move Gardner off the field or trade him.

A Swarzak + Melky package to a contender
QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 25, 2017 -> 07:20 AM) See, I think someone will give him an everyday shot, but will be skeptical to go multiple years with him. Two years is a possibility I guess, but would probably have to be an AL team that could move to DH in 2019 if necessary. I think he could make sense for a team like the Yankees next season. They can probably get him on a one year deal. They would have Gardner in LF (he could be traded and it could be Frazier however), Ellsbury in CF, Judge in RF and they could DH Melky and give him occasional starts in the OF.

A Swarzak + Melky package to a contender
I like Melky and all, but I don't see him getting a 3 year deal worth $12-14 mill/year. If he is that valuable, a team would have jumped on him by now. I think he gets a year deal with an option from someone (I wouldn't mind it being the Sox as he could DH and play LF occasionally).

07/24 GT: Cubs vs. Sox game 1, 1:20 PM
QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jul 24, 2017 -> 04:11 PM) Bunting for a hit. Nicely done. The only bunt I can accept. Only from guys who can do it consistently.

Clippard to Houston for PTBNL or cash
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 24, 2017 -> 01:53 PM) Why are these kind of troll posts acceptable when mine aren't? A post like this is worth nothing except to make me so mad that I want to respond. But I won't take the bait this time. We get it. You want us to lose every game. I want to win every game, so there's a difference of opinion. That's all. p.s. You didn't need Clippard's contract to lose. There are plenty of stiffs in the minors you could bring up to accomplish the same thing as Clippard BTW. Plenty of bodies who will lose you games on the cheap. But you did by responding...

07/24 GT: Cubs vs. Sox game 1, 1:20 PM
QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jul 24, 2017 -> 11:41 AM) This is not allowed. I think it's fine. Younger, I probably would have agreed but now I say f*ck it. I have too much other s*** in my life to worry about someone liking both teams. Like what you want to like. It really only matters 4/6 games a season.

QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jul 24, 2017 -> 11:35 AM) Week day afternoon games suck. Yeah especially this one since it isn't a travel day.

Trade Idea: Giancarlo Stanton
QUOTE (SCCWS @ Jul 24, 2017 -> 11:27 AM) FWIW--Heard on a Boston Sports Show that it would be very unlikely Stanton would be dealt since he is the key asset if the ownership is going to sell. They should probably just figure out what potential new owners would want. Could see new owners wanting him moved so his giant contract is off the books along with getting a couple decent prospects.

Four Game Series with Cubs
QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 24, 2017 -> 10:43 AM) Unless Moncada goes 0-18 with 16 ks and 2 GIDP Yeah...let's hope this doesn't happen.

Four Game Series with Cubs
QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jul 24, 2017 -> 10:30 AM) I just see this series as a win-win no matter what happens. This is how I feel. I'm hoping to spoil the Cubs but can rationalize the losses.

Do our players need to choke up on the bat more?
QUOTE (Wanne @ Jul 22, 2017 -> 06:53 PM) because Hawk says? Meh...doesn't work for everybody unless you practice it on a daily basis. You can't just automatically choke up and be comfortable and expect better results. No, not because he says guys should. Even though he is correct and guys should choke up more.

Four Game Series with Cubs
QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 24, 2017 -> 09:35 AM) Another outcome of this series- let's hope Moncada has a real batting average on Friday morning. That more than any won-loss outcome is what I'd like to see. Yeah I really want to see him rake these next 4 days.

Four Game Series with Cubs
QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 24, 2017 -> 08:51 AM) This stuff drives me crazy, folks. Good news: The White Sox will try to win the games. Better news: The White Sox suck and so they will prolly lose anyways. Best news: Cheer for whatever the hell you want - it doesn't make a damned difference. +1000000000

Four Game Series with Cubs
QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 24, 2017 -> 08:37 AM) I'm good with anything, but for me, if some miracle happens where they give the Cubs four losses and they lose the division by a game, that would be pretty awesome. That said, the Cubs will win 3 or 4, and then it'll be over. Then back to trade deadline stuff. Probably.

Four Game Series with Cubs
Want the Sox to win at least 2 but if they lose 3 or all 4, at least it helps the tank.

7/23- CWS @ KCR, 1:15 PM CT
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 23, 2017 -> 11:21 PM) We should start threads for just the two of us and anybody else who wants to win games now. Seriously. Think how cool it'd be. We could discuss the current team's chances of winning games; and the others wouldn't have to see our posts about wanting to win games. I love El Rockin!! The best fan in the history of the White Sox, or one of 'em! Does it matter to you if the Sox win 60 for 70 games? If you're not first you're last.

Four Game Series with Cubs
It seems like no matter how each team is, they split the season series. I'm predicting 2-2.
