  1. Zobrist looks like he is being moved into a bench role with the team. Must be nice to be able to afford a ~$15 million bench bat lol
  2. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Apr 27, 2017 -> 10:11 AM) Is Cespedes a fair player comp for Robert? Speaking of Cespedes, what do scouts say about his 19-year old half brother, Yoelkis? Is he expected to come over in the next Amateur International signing period? If so, is he someone we could maybe persuade to sign at $300k if we go over in the current period on Robert? I'm just asking because I don't know much about him.
  3. QUOTE (kwolf68 @ Apr 27, 2017 -> 10:08 AM) I thought the Sox were supposed to be eliminated by now. LOL. They are leading the AL Central. Yea Yea I know it's probably short-lived, but that's hilarious to see, especially with NUMEROUS players on this team hitting well below their career average. Wonder if they hang around for another month? We were 14-6 at this point in the season last year. 3 game difference this season. We'll see how it's looking in June/July.
  4. QUOTE (reiks12 @ Apr 27, 2017 -> 09:33 AM) With the way Robertson is pitching I would like to see us go to the deadline rather than settle for anything Washington is willing to offer us Unless of course they make a desperation type of offer.
  5. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Apr 27, 2017 -> 08:44 AM) A thin bullpen is a recipe for playoff disaster Yep. Maybe they can trade for Robertson + on of Putnam/Petricka/Jennings to make it look more deep.
  6. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 26, 2017 -> 07:51 PM) Was listening to the Kanny game today and had nightmares the Sox wouldn't pull the trigger on Robert because of Micker Adolfo being "just a guy" in Low A ball 4 years after he signed. Obviously, comes down to scouting. Jimenez has done extremely well for the Cubs, he was #1 in his class and Adolfo #2 in his. By now, we should be able to start combing through those MLB lists from 4-5 years ago and seeing how many of those INTL Top 20 guys are doing better than expected, on course, or have fallen behind. To be fair, he was 16 when he signed.
  7. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Apr 26, 2017 -> 10:03 PM) What a post! Lol yep.
  8. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Apr 25, 2017 -> 01:25 PM) Avi has now passed the 70 PA threshold for K rate. He's at 23.5%. A good sign but he needs to continue to hit for power. His iso is dropping quickly and if you normalize his BABIP down to a more reasonable .340 instead of .457 his slash line goes down basically to his career stats. Frankly, looking at his stats this week, I don't see much room for optimism that he has really turned a corner. That said, defensively he's been mediocre so far, instead of god awful, so that's a bonus. Agreed. He'll come back down to earth eventually. His BABIP was like .470 before yesterday's game.
  9. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Apr 26, 2017 -> 04:24 PM) Glad it's just a mild strain but hopefully this convinces everybody he's a DH. His defense should convince everybody he's a DH lol
  10. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 26, 2017 -> 04:11 PM) 11-9, best bullpen this month. Just think, we are 12-1 away from being where we were last year through the first 33 games.
  11. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Apr 26, 2017 -> 04:03 PM) I was 17 for my first few weeks of college. It really sucked too cause you had to be 19 to get into Carbondale bars so I didn't get into the bar scene a lot my freshman year. Same thing for my brother as well. He went to SIUC and his birthday is mid-August and he literally went back to school like a week or two before he turned 18 haha growing up where we did, the cutoff for the school years was Sept 1.
  12. QUOTE (MEANS @ Apr 26, 2017 -> 03:06 PM) huh? pretty much everyone I went to school with was a 19 year old freshman. Yeah you turn 19 your freshman year lol you can have your bday early September/very beginning of the school year and bam...you're a 19 year old freshman.
  13. QUOTE (Chris Sale @ Apr 26, 2017 -> 01:37 PM) 4 K's for Q through two innings. Pretty weak contact. Hopefully he's figured something out. Let's hope.
  14. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 26, 2017 -> 01:26 PM) Frazier warming up. Get that trade value up.
  15. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Apr 25, 2017 -> 09:12 PM) Eric Thames with yet another home run, he now has as many as the Red Sox do collectively. We need Frazier to start swinging the bat really well.
  16. For those who have missed it, here it is: link RMR 1:07 Am I missing something with these reports of the White Sox being in on Robert? Seems like they would be less likely considering they're the only of the rumored teams to have not blown their pool amount already. Eric A Longenhagen 1:07 They're on him and have more or less set the market at this point
  17. QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Apr 26, 2017 -> 01:35 AM) I gave up early last year, but I would be interesting in seeing how the finale couple episodes end, just skipping the rest. Yeah 4th season is definitely the worst. I'll give you that.
  18. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Apr 26, 2017 -> 01:37 AM) I still don't understand how people are blindly in love with Seth Beer. And he's not even eligible to be drafted this year like the guy's lineup suggests.
  19. QUOTE (Scoots @ Apr 25, 2017 -> 03:43 PM) Kind of surprised Narvaez is in the lineup vs. the lefty and not Soto...is he hurt again maybe? Especially with the day game tomorrow and a righty being on the mound.
  20. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Apr 25, 2017 -> 03:07 PM) I can see the Sox spending what it would take to get Robert I absolutely cannot see the Sox being realistic players for Machado or Harper as they will be looking for a megadeal I mean, I believe they will spend some money but I doubt it will all be on one player.
  21. QUOTE (ptatc @ Apr 25, 2017 -> 10:48 AM) People need to stop replying to Greg. I have him on ignore but when you reply to him I read his posts because they appear in your response. It sucks that if you put someone on block, they just aren't gone from the thread to you. It sucks seeing that they post and responses to the post show.
  22. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Apr 25, 2017 -> 01:50 PM) I think that is the case Other clubs will very much be in the mix, but the Sox do have money to spend with a minimum of Melky and Frazier coming off the books at the end of the season Trading Robertson would ideally free up even more payroll moving forward, as would Quintana Shields comes off the books after next season, leaving us with barely any significant contracts remaining I see the Sox being very aggressive in the Robert bidding war Huh? The money beyond this season nothing to really do with this situation because he won't getting paid millions over the next few years. He would have to go through regular team control like every other player that comes up.
  23. Bates Motel continued to amaze with the series finale last night.
  24. QUOTE (oldsox @ Apr 25, 2017 -> 08:56 AM) Totally surprised he made the Nats' roster. Pitched last night. I don't think he made the opening day roster. Think he was called up.
