  1. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jan 19, 2017 -> 10:58 AM) I think we would easily be #1 after a Quintana trade. Especially if we dealt with one of the teams ahead of us.
  2. It's been a few days since we have had a "(insert team here) still talking to the White Sox about Quintana" tweet. Let's predict who will tweet next.
  3. I had a nice loophole at work over the summer. The company I work for had our servers located in Oklahoma so when I logged into mlbtv to watch Sox or Cubs afternoon games, it wasn't blacked out. It was amazing.
  4. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jan 19, 2017 -> 09:40 AM) Gonzalez quietly threw 135 pretty solid innings in 2016 and saved his career Another similar performance in 2017 and he could have value at the deadline for a team in need of starting pitching depth The Marlins were linked to him at the trade deadline last year, correct?
  5. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jan 19, 2017 -> 09:29 AM) Marlins have no where near enough to land Q. I agree. I didn't argue that haha
  6. QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 19, 2017 -> 09:26 AM) We also didn't complete a trade for MiGo. The point is this is not any sort of benchmark for Q or top of the line pitcher. There is no way to say "oh well they gave up 3 top 15 prospects from a terrible system for a pitcher with a sudden improvement, and Q is worth...100x that. What is 100x 3 top 15 prospects from a terrible system?" "...Three. Hundred. Prospects." I'm not arguing that the Marlins could have added more to that package and received Q though.
  7. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jan 19, 2017 -> 09:13 AM) Very true http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2687747...culation/page/5 This is from bleacher report today and suggests a Pirates offer of: Meadows + Glasnow + Diaz might work for both sides It suggests the White Sox will ask for Meadows + Glasnow + Keller, but the Pirates would be unwilling to part with that much. They could offer the lower tier Diaz instead to round out the package and fill in a platoon catcher option for the Sox. I'd love a Meadows + Glasnow + Newman deal Maybe it'll be like when they dealt with the Red Sox. White Sox wanted Moncada, Kopech and Devers but instead of Devers, Hahn agreed on Basabe and Diaz instead. Maybe Sox want (just spit balling here) Meadows, Glasnow/Keller (depending on who they believe is better) and Bell and they'll have to agree on 2 lesser pieces instead of the third piece.
  8. QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 19, 2017 -> 09:14 AM) I think all that it is is an insight into what a possible Miguel Gonzalez trade looked like. Straily has the 4 years of control though.
  9. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 19, 2017 -> 09:11 AM) Plus the Rays already dumped a pitcher. They don't appear to be going into full rebuild mode. It's Q or bust for these guys. At the deadline if he isn't traded yet, chances are he is the best option. Next winter, Arrieta is a free agent, maybe Tanaka and a 33 year old Cueto. Given Q's contract, do you want to give up prospects or an extra $100 million? He still is looking good. Getting Q for 4 years offsets a good portion of the 6 years of control for a top prospect. The White Sox should be asking for the moon because eventually some team will pay it. The Rays actually really don't look too bad IMO. Probably not good enough to win division or a wild card spot but can win some games. They should be better than us which is good for when we play them head-to-head and wanting a high draft spot.
  10. QUOTE (3GamesToLove @ Jan 19, 2017 -> 08:26 AM) So pumped for super-cheap tickets on StubHub this year! Well the outfield corners are $7 Mon-Sat and $5 on Sundays. They also open the 100 level if attendance is under 25,000 so I basically took advantage of that whenever I had to pay for games. Nothing beats paying $7 and sitting behind the dugout.
  11. QUOTE (SoxBrah @ Jan 19, 2017 -> 07:29 AM) #TankForBeer I fear that Cincinnati will suck more than we do. They're apparently close to dealing away Dan Straily who was solid for them last year. Had him on my fantasy team a few times.
  12. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 19, 2017 -> 06:30 AM) So steroids are OK as long as you played catcher. Apparently haha seriously though, who's the next catcher to get in, Yadier Molina probably?
  13. QUOTE (SoxSteve @ Jan 18, 2017 -> 11:48 PM) God i hope so. Nothing would make me happier than getting the ist pick in the draft 2 years in row and being ready to compete in 2019. In fact if doesnt happen i will be pissed. Lose and lose big the next. 2 years. Puts a smile on my face. This doesn't even make sense. Potential #1 picks the next 2 years probably won't be ready to help us in 2019.
  14. QUOTE (pablo @ Jan 18, 2017 -> 06:11 PM) Definitely have to disagree with you. Like ptatc was saying, there is no reason for the Sox to have a firm "we have to be good again by X date". Rebuilds do not have a timetable, rather you acquire as many good assets as you can and hope they come together at a certain point. Keeping Q just in case Sox are good in 2019 is probably the wrong mindset. There is simply no way to expect when they could contend again, especially so early in the rebuild Agreed 100%. Putting a timetable on it of say 2-3 years has a better chance of disappointing us than not.
  15. QUOTE (reiks12 @ Jan 18, 2017 -> 04:25 PM) Still looks so much better than SD!!! Sadly I agree lol
  16. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jan 18, 2017 -> 04:18 PM) Pretty much. yah. Hopefully Saladino gets a good chunk of ABs as well. I would like him at 2B, personally. Edit: don't think it was posted here but a writer on mlb.com (I think it was) listed Saladino as a good trade option at 2B for the Dodgers referencing his WAR and defense.
  17. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jan 18, 2017 -> 04:14 PM) Yah, at this point in his "development", may as well just give him 300+ at bats and see if he can do anything. I agree, if they were to deal Frazier, I would probably plug him in at third (if he isn't already getting at bats between 1B/3B/DH with Frazier and Abreu).
  18. Without Q, we are looking at a rotation of: Rodon Shields Gonzalez (maybe he can get flipped mid-season) Holland One of Covey, Beck, or other Starting lineup would be: C Narvaez, Soto 1B Abreu (could be traded but seems unlikely) 2B Lawrie, Moncada second half unless he is doing terrible at AAA 3B Frazier (could be traded mid-season) SS Anderson LF Melky (could be traded mid-season) CF Tilson, Liriano RF Garcia, Liriano DH Davidson? Garcia or probably more likely a late MLB signing (Carter, Lind, Alvarez)
  19. QUOTE (hi8is @ Jan 18, 2017 -> 02:20 PM) .259 / .315 / .472 41 HR / 32 2b's / 106 RBI Half of which comes with the Sox and the other half with the Mets. After David Wright suffers yet another season ending (possibly career ending) injury.
  20. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jan 18, 2017 -> 02:31 PM) Remember though, they can't trade for space until after July 2nd. There's a solid chance that the Sox have agreements with guys and don't officially get the $$ to sign immediately. They can acquire space from July 2nd until June 15th 2018 I believe. I agree with you though that it should be interesting. That's a good point.
  21. The question is, do we sit out this summer and wait and see if Otani is coming over for sure or not in the winter? I haven't seen any confirmation that he is definitely coming.
  22. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jan 18, 2017 -> 01:31 PM) I'd love to see the Rockies make a play for Q and offer up Rodgers/Dahl, Hoffman/Pint, Murphy, Freeland, Tapia, Marquez (some combination of) Rodgers and Dahl are going to be studs Heck, give me Rodgers, Dahl plus one more guy (even a lottery ticket) and I'll take that deal. They get to keep most of their prospect depth with a strong front package.
  23. If we hold onto him, we just need teams like the Rockies, Astros, Pirates, Dodgers, and even the Yankees to play good the first 3-4 months and all of a sudden, his value is higher due to more teams being competitive and needing another starter (competitive teams are always looking for a starter). Heck, you might be able to get some of their rivals in discussions. The teams I listed are the teams I want to trade with the most.
  24. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jan 18, 2017 -> 06:44 AM) Team is not nearly bad enough to get into the Beer mix as it stands today. Agreed. I think we are outside to top 5 picks as of right now.
  25. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jan 18, 2017 -> 08:26 AM) I agree That Padres rotation is beyond awful. That team is going to get run train on by the MLB. I would go so far as to say our AAA rotation is significantly better than their mlb rotation. Seriously. They are probably looking at a 50-112 record. Over/under I'm putting at 52.5 wins.
