  1. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Nov 14, 2016 -> 03:59 PM) That would be perfectly fine for me. What would you personally do with him? Keep him in CF or move him back to 2B? Not hating on the idea of getting him because I would be thrilled. Just curious what everyone's opinion on where he should play is.
  2. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Nov 14, 2016 -> 03:33 PM) Bob Nightengale ‏@BNightengale 10s11 seconds ago The Washington #Nats among the latest teams to inquire on #Whitesox ace Chris Sale, but no serious talks with anyone yet Can you imagine a starting 3 of Scherzer, Sale, Strasburg (assuming he can stay healthy)?
  3. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Nov 14, 2016 -> 01:16 PM) Hellickson accepted his QO....so there goes one of the best couple arms on the FA market....to the Phillies. Only good news for the Sox. Perfect.
  4. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Nov 14, 2016 -> 12:23 PM) I see where you're coming from. Nothing is guaranteed. Sale's arm could fall off tomorrow for all we know. All I'm saying is that they need to get a "can't miss" player as a part of the return (like a Benintendi or Bregman type), and I don't see anyone the Dodgers could offer that would fit that criteria. So the only difference between those 2 and position players in the Dodgers minors is that they've been good in their small MLB sample sizes? That doesn't really make them "can't miss" or "sure things."
  5. QUOTE (Charlie Haeger's Knuckles @ Nov 14, 2016 -> 12:14 PM) As a Dodgers fan, this sort of trade seems to go against their new organizational philosophy set forth by the new ownership group. Build a strong farm system to feed the Major League team, make trades to fill holes on the ML roster and not "Blockbuster" trades that gut the farm system (so to speak) ...such as this would seem. #shrug As a fan of both teams, if this trade goes down, I can have my cake and eat it too Would it really "gut" their system though?
  6. QUOTE (Dunt @ Nov 14, 2016 -> 12:07 PM) Like both Urias and De Leon, but Bellinger is the big piece there for me. 30 HR potential with a plus glove at first. Still a lot of swing and miss to his game, but he takes his walks. Left handed power bat too. Maybe Bellinger can develop into our Rizzo.
  7. QUOTE (hi8is @ Nov 14, 2016 -> 11:50 AM) What's wrong with Austin Barnes? With Puig you have two years to turn him around and then trade him as well. Not sure we could expect more. Yeah I just edited my post.
  8. QUOTE (hi8is @ Nov 14, 2016 -> 11:47 AM) A dodger nut friend of mine said, "I'd hate that deal". I like the first 4 pieces. Edit: Scratch that; I like Barnes too. I guess Puig is fine as a last piece, throw-in guy but I don't see the Dodgers feeling the same way.
  9. QUOTE (GREEDY @ Nov 14, 2016 -> 11:27 AM) Biggest problem with all of these trades is that the players we are receiving in return A. Are mostly mlb ready and won't allow the Sox to tank for top picks. B. Have only a year or two tops more team control than Sale/Q. What? There's no guarantee they will be stars right away lol they will have their struggles and may never end up being good.
  10. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Nov 14, 2016 -> 11:13 AM) Are you serious? I don't have access to Twitter right now. I wonder what connections (if any) he has to the organization at this point. Yeah I don't buy it until it comes from somewhere/someone credible.
  11. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 14, 2016 -> 11:12 AM) That makes sense. I presume they aren't going to go long term with Justin Turner, which would make Frazier a good fit for them. They certainly have the pieces. What's funny is they could have had him last year if they just cut the Sox out of the three-team deal involving the Reds, Dodgers and the Sox haha
  12. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Nov 14, 2016 -> 11:10 AM) I'm in a White Sox group chat on twitter. Over the past couple days, Ozzie Guillen Jr has been in there. He came in today and said that he's heard the Sox are close to trading Sale and Frazier to the Dodgers. That's all he had. No idea if it's true or not. Just thought I'd pass along. Doubt he would know what is going on. Or even his father for that matter.
  13. QUOTE (raBBit @ Nov 14, 2016 -> 10:49 AM) I should clarify - I didn't mean that is non-tendered but more that he is done. The non tender date is December 2nd so they wouldn't have to dump him until then. They're probably looking to trade him. If they don't find a middle reliever prospect with control issues or starter prospect with strikeout issues or athletic outfield prospect who strikes out and doesn't hit for average then they dump Lawrie. This is what I suggested yesterday. He isn't going to bring a lot back in a deal. The types of players you described are likely the types we would get back.
  14. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Nov 14, 2016 -> 10:47 AM) When push comes to shove I am not certain they will get the value back that they are seeking. Teams are valuing youth more and more each season and for Quintana, Sale and Eaton a team would have to give up a good amount if not all of their youth. I just do not see the trade partners matching up enough to get these deals done. If the White Sox are not going to use the financial benefits of these deals to their advantage they will lose out badly at the end of the day. Agreed. There just doesn't seem like that many teams that can trade for them. It's basically just Red Sox, Dodgers, Astros, and Cubs (but I count them out as I just don't see either team making a huge trade with each other).
  15. QUOTE (Dunt @ Nov 14, 2016 -> 10:46 AM) Just doesnt make sense if a rebuild is on, especially if they are planning on shopping Frazier Agreed. He'd be fine as a stop gap at third or second even. Only thing I could think of is he was bad in the clubhouse and it just wasn't reported or his injury is worse than expected.
  16. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Nov 14, 2016 -> 10:37 AM) Buster Olney ‏@Buster_ESPN 3m3 minutes ago White Sox currently focused on a rebuild, but it's unclear whether they'll find offers acceptable to them for Chris Sale, Jose Abreu, etc. Exactly why people still believe a complete over-haul is impossible. And it's a fair reason not to rebuild if you don't get the offers.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 11, 2016 -> 02:55 PM) Davidson has barely been able to prove himself as a AAA player. I would be incredibly shocked if he ever showed he could hit major league pitching on the regular basis with the historic hole in his swing. He did alright last year and is the type of guy you play at the MLB level during a rebuild (if you can't find another stop-gap that you want to flip/hang around for veteran leadership, etc.).
  18. The real question is who will spend less days on the dl.
  19. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Nov 13, 2016 -> 06:17 PM) Then hold onto him and hope he rebuilds his value by the deadline. This.
  20. QUOTE (hi8is @ Nov 13, 2016 -> 02:29 PM) Interesting tidbit from Rosenthal from a Fox Sports piece: http://www.foxsports.com/mlb/story/notes-a...-pitches-111016 Not surprised. I'm not expecting a full-blown rebuild.
  21. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Nov 13, 2016 -> 11:47 AM) Lose pretty much all leverage if they do so. Wouldn't expect even a decent return for him anyway. Probably similar to what we gave up which a team could do rather than try to negotiate with him and possibly have him sign somewhere else.
  22. I'm guessing they let him know that they aren't planning on tendering him but probably won't do it until the deadline to tender/non-tender players. Probably try to move him up until then.
  23. I don't understand the urgency to do it right now.
  24. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Nov 13, 2016 -> 07:51 AM) Just for hypothetical sakes, a Sale for Benintendi, Devers, Rodriguez, Kopech, & Swihart trade would require two additional 40 man spots on a net basis and putting us right at 40. With the desire to get certain moves done prior to the CBA expiring, it probably makes sense to have that extra roster spot available now. Obviously this is all dependent on a large multi-player happening soon, but to Dick's point I don't really see another reason to cut bait on him until really need that roster spot. Which is why I think people are just looking far into his tweets. Whitesoxdave said he he had nothing; only rumors which are probably speculation hes been seeing at sites like this one.
  25. Isn't the the non-tender deadline in December. I bet his tweets aren't even baseball related lol
