  1. QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Jun 4, 2016 -> 02:05 PM) Well Jon Jay would certainly be an upgrade over Shuck and Avi. Platoon him with Jackson moving Jackson to backup OF most of the time.
  2. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 4, 2016 -> 01:51 PM) It'd be 8.5 million a year on average for Sox if padres paid half. Looking at baseball reference, he's set to make $21 mill in each of 17 and 18. That'd be 11.5 we owe him those years. He has an option for $16 mill the following year.
  3. Well hopefully we sign a bunch of talent during this year's international period to forget Tatis. With so many teams unable to spend heavily, we better.
  4. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jun 4, 2016 -> 01:40 PM) Tatis Jr. mentioned in that article once again. Have a feeling it will end up being a bad trade down the line assuming Shields were to come here and do terrible.
  5. QUOTE (BamaDoc @ Jun 4, 2016 -> 01:20 PM) Jackson last played the 29th so with Melky gone, it would not have surprised me to have seen them put him on the DL retroactively and bring up Hayes to have another LH bat instead of DHing Rollins. It could have been about a week long trial so I guess Jackson very close to returning? I think if Jackson goes on the dl, it will be when Melky comes back to the team in order to get a longer look at Coats.
  6. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jun 4, 2016 -> 01:28 PM) Bob Nightengale ‏@BNightengale 1m1 minute ago The #Padres are expected to eat about half of remaining $56 million in Shields contract when they trade him. Oh thank god. Hope we don't give up anything too significant still. Johnson and another fringe guy is all I'd do.
  7. QUOTE (Baron @ Jun 4, 2016 -> 01:22 PM) I guess maybe I'm the only one who isnt worried about what we give up and wants Shields Who would you want/expect to give up?
  8. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Jun 4, 2016 -> 11:49 AM) Rosenthal says talks are heating up. SD has been scouting the Sox farm system. Supposedly the Sox have made a "compelling" offer To correct you, he says a team has made a compelling offer. Doesn't know who the team is but could or could not be the Sox.
  9. According to Rosenthal, talks are heating up. Sox still involved. Please lord don't make this happen.
  10. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Jun 4, 2016 -> 10:25 AM) Then somebody else will need to learn 1st base Frazier knows how and Shuck played in triple A during his stint there. They are fine. A good backup 1B isn't a huge necessity.
  11. QUOTE (Scoots @ Jun 4, 2016 -> 08:12 AM) Sands being sent down then? Hopefully THIS is the case when Melky comes back.
  12. The same Chris Coghlan batting .153 with a .223 OBP? Better be coming cheap.
  13. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 4, 2016 -> 08:46 AM) https://weather.com/weather/hourbyhour/l/USMI0229:1:US Rain coming their way at 6 or more likely 7 p.m. Might not finish it, or there will be a long rain delay in the 6th/7th/8th. Game is at 3:10 I would hope they'd be in the 8th/9th at that time.
  14. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jun 4, 2016 -> 07:54 AM) We better f*** Pelfrey up today. Dude is a joke and if we can't get it together against him, I'm generally going to be worried about our offense. One can argue our offense is a joke however (especially without Melky).
  15. Why does he insist on Shuck batting 5th?! (Has flashbacks of 2005 Timo Perez batting 5th).
  16. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 2, 2016 -> 11:54 PM) Delmonico just got promoted from BIRM a week ago...if they promoted him this quickly, it would be borderline crazy. It wouldn't be that crazy. It's happened before. And sometimes guys skip Triple A and go straight from Double A to the majors.
  17. QUOTE (shipps @ Jun 2, 2016 -> 11:34 AM) I see that they acquired one so I am not sure if that one falls under what Tex is talking about or what? I cant say I know what the restrictions are on trading picks but they must be so tight its basically non existent. Only competitive balance picks can be traded.
  18. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 2, 2016 -> 08:24 AM) They don't have the talent, at least should be unwilling to surrender the talent, but they do have LaRoche's cash. When half the season's paychecks are cashed, his $13 million becomes an ability to stay at projected opening day payroll and acquire $26 million in salary. Plus, the longer you wait, the availability should increase as well. The other thing is, you can wait on Shields. If Latos and/or Gonzalez fail, and he's the only option, fine. But they shouldn't be in a rush to acquire him. That's a very good point. I didn't really consider the fact that taking on a bigger contract half way through the season and then using the LaRoche money saved is better than taking on a bad contract in say April.
  19. QUOTE (Black_Jack29 @ Jun 1, 2016 -> 08:13 PM) Yep. I have no idea why he's still on the roster. If May showed us anything, it's that we'd be better off using that roster spot on an extra bullpen arm. We had a 3 man bench a lot of May. Are you saying only go with a catcher and Rollins? Haha
  20. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jun 1, 2016 -> 04:15 PM) For cash. Catching depth. Reporting to AAA. Had to replace Hector Sanchez.
  21. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jun 1, 2016 -> 10:23 AM) But so can Abreu, Frazier, and Saladino. We don't need him. And Shuck worked at first in AAA.
  22. Seriously. If you're going to play both, play Saladino against righties in the 2 spot and play Rollins against lefties. That way Saladino at least gets majority time.
  23. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ May 31, 2016 -> 08:15 PM) I think Rick Hahn is one of the smartest GMs in the game. There no way that those Syndergaard to the Sox for Ramirez rumors were true. Think it was more "dumb wishful thinking" by posters on here than a rumor with actual legs.
