9/5 - White Sox vs Tigers
QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 5, 2016 -> 05:50 PM) Have him go around 100 pitches a game and not put unnecessary stress on the biggest asset in your franchise He was cruising virtually the entire game. Had he been struggling, it'd be different, but I have no problem with his pitch count today.

9/5 - White Sox vs Tigers
QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 5, 2016 -> 03:57 PM) Sale has nothing on these pitches today. Wonder how tired his arm is, as his velocity is around 91 today That's generally what happens when he throws 110+ pitches in 3 starts in a row.

9/5 - White Sox vs Tigers
Throwing nothing but fastballs isn't going to work against this lineup.

Jose Abreu
Am I crazy, or has he been killing it since he saw his son in Miami? Maybe there's no correlation, but he was ice cold before and has been raking ever since.

Game Night Across America
Q is out of the Cy Young race for sure now. We have to all pull for Sale.

Jon Heyman: Sox have little interest in moving Sale or Quintana
Comparing the Sox to the Cubs in terms of rebuilding efforts is stupid. They have nothing in common besides the city they're from. 2 totally different circumstances.

Jon Heyman: Sox have little interest in moving Sale or Quintana
QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Sep 1, 2016 -> 10:49 AM) And what, ride off into the sunset of mediocrity until we lose Sale in a few years? Holding onto Sale & Quintana is pointless if you're never going to be able to build a winner around them. Obviously you don't give them away, but their value will never be higher than this offseason and if this magical haul some posters are expecting isn't there, then maybe you need to reset your expectations. There will be enough bidders this offseason to get fair market value for them, whatever that may be. I've said this so many times, but the absolute worst thing this franchise can do is hold onto these guys and end up getting nothing in return and not winning s***. There needs to be a sense of urgency this offseason to either to buy talent around them or to aggressively sell them. Waiting to be overwhelmed is the worst approach for a team in dire need of a clear direction. 100% agreed, but knowing the Sox, they'll wait and wait and nothing will happen.

2016 Cubs catch-all thread
QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Sep 1, 2016 -> 07:02 AM) The double play duo of Russell and Baez is legit. Their fans say they're the best double play duo ever, even better than Alomar and Vizquel. It's quite comical, actually.

Sale and Quintana
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Aug 31, 2016 -> 10:28 AM) CY Young Race Corey Kluber: 175.2 IP, 3.07 ERA, 3.11 FIP, WHIP 1.05, SIERA 3.53, 4.5 fWAR Jose Quintana: 172.1 IP, 2.77 ERA, 3.34 FIP, WHIP 1.10, SIERA 3.95, 4.4 fWAR Chris Sale: 177.2 IP 3.14 ERA, 3.35 FIP, WHIP 1.00, SIERA 3.51, 4.4 fWAR David Price: 183.2 IP, 3.97 ERA, 3.46 FIP, WHIP 1.23, SIERA 3.55, 3.9 fWAR Masahiro Tanaka: 173 IP, 3.12 ERA, 3.26 FIP, WHIP 1.06, SIERA 3.69, 4.5 fWAR Kluber with the slight lead I think as of now but a wide open AL Cy Young race. There is no way in hell that David Price should even be considered for the award. He's had an awful year.

Carlos Rodon
QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Aug 30, 2016 -> 01:40 PM) I like what I have seen from Rodon. He is fun to watch when he is on his A game. I really enjoy Quintana. Next year I see a rotation of Sale, Quintana, Rodon, Fulmer and either Gonzalez or Shields. I really kind of think Big Game James gets traded but then again you would hate to see us give up too soon like we did with Shark. Difference is Shields is older. Who exactly is going to trade for Shields?

Sox Potentially for Sale

The Second Wildcard
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 28, 2016 -> 04:49 PM) That wasn't anything close to a choke. Yeah, it was definitely more of a slaughtering.

Sox in pursuit of Puig
If he had some good Latin influences like Abreu and Melky to set him straight, I don't see any reason why Puig couldn't thrive in Chicago.

New Ballpark Name
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Aug 25, 2016 -> 10:53 AM) They might be a laughingstock. It's not because of the Ballpark name though. It's pretty funny when a team that hasn't won a title in 109 years throws shade along with another one that hasn't won a title in 30 years. Good times. That's true. I almost expected the Cubs to make fun of it, as they have no class, but I was pretty surprised that the Bears commented on it too. Sox fans comprise part of their fanbase, so I'm not sure why the Bears thought it was a good idea to tweet about it when it doesn't have anything to do with them. Whatever.
-
New Ballpark Name
I'm still dumbfounded as to the stupidity of the name. It really isn't that big of a deal in the grand scheme of things, but couldn't they have found a way to make the name/logo sound and look better? The Sox have made a laughing stock of themselves for pretty much no reason. Hell, even the Bears made fun of them on Twitter.

Jose Abreu
If Abreu rakes through the end of the season, I wouldn't mind trading him in the offseason for a boatload of young studs. Abreu won't age well with his body structure, IMO.
-
Jose Abreu
The Rodominator has been pretty studly lately. It's nice to see, especially after he struggled early on.

Shields could lose rotation spot
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 23, 2016 -> 01:30 PM) Realistically the Sox have only a few options here. Taking him out of the rotation now is the worst of the moves. Your biggest goal is to pitch him until he gets through whatever is messing him up. Taking him out of the rotation makes that much harder. If you can get him into some sort of a stable recovery mode, then you either have a solid starting pitcher, or you have a trade asset. You're kidding, right? He could have a respectable ERA from now until the end of the season and no team would touch him with a 10 foot pole. Not a chance. The Sox are stuck with him.

Sox in pursuit of Puig
Would LA want Shields? I'd trade him for Puig in a HEARTBEAT.

Hawk will keep working as long as he can
QUOTE (shipps @ Aug 19, 2016 -> 12:30 PM) A heart arrhythmia is not a terminal illness. People can have these things and then never have another occurrence again. While that's true, he's at the age where health issues are becoming more regular. I'm worried about him.
