NLDS: Giants vs. Evil Empire
Go Giants or Mets! It would be satisfying as hell for the Cubs to lose in the 1st round after having their fans talk so much s***.

ROBIN VENTURA appreciation thread
Robin is a class act all the way, he just wasn't a good manager. It is what it is. I wish him the best in his future endeavors.

USA Today: White Sox Will Retain Robin Ventura, If He Wants to Return
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 1, 2016 -> 07:52 PM) Its been done ad naseum. Again, you can choose to ignore it if you like.

AL Cy Young
QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 29, 2016 -> 10:36 AM) If they changed the rules that it has to be a pitcher with at least 180 innings, I wouldn't have a problem with that. Then they could make a bigger deal for Reliever of the Year. That would be a good thing to do. But I think in a year where no starter has an ERA under 3, and Britton is perfect in save opportunities for a contending team, with a 0.55 ERA, and an 809 ERA+, I would vote for him. He deserves it under the current rules, and even a lot of advanced stat people agree. It seems like some are trying to make a case for Sale because he's "our guy". Even if it were just for starting pitchers, I doubt Sale would crack the top 3 right now, but I'd like to look at it more closely Sunday night when it's all over. Besides Porcello, Verlander, and Kluber, which AL starters have an argument that they've had a better year than Sale? I don't think he finishes worse than 5th.

AL Cy Young
QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Sep 29, 2016 -> 10:18 AM) Even if he does I bet most guys have their votes already in by then. You're probably right, but if he goes out and throws a shutout, or conversely, gets rocked, his ranking will probably change. I really think Porcello will win, even though Sale and even Verlander and Kluber are just as deserving.

AL Cy Young
Is Sale going to make his last start? That could change his place in the standings.

USA Today: White Sox Will Retain Robin Ventura, If He Wants to Return
QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 28, 2016 -> 01:53 PM) On the bright side, maybe Ventura will demand a 4 year deal. We know this organization will be too shy to go past 3 if last year is their new philosophy LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

USA Today: White Sox Will Retain Robin Ventura, If He Wants to Return
This is a whole new level of loyalty, even for the Sox. Jesus.

9/27 game thread
QUOTE (Insp @ Sep 27, 2016 -> 08:01 PM) And yet earlier this season when the bullpen did get burned out, people like you whined and cried about it. The situation now is a lot different than it was then. There's 6 meaningless games left. Who really cares if the AAAA pitchers get extra work? There's no point in trotting out our ace when he clearly has nothing.

9/27 game thread
QUOTE (Insp @ Sep 27, 2016 -> 07:43 PM) And burn out the bullpen? They have a gazillion guys out there. Who really cares if Beck and Kahnle have to pitch multiple innings?

Exclusive interview: Marco Paddy, Director of Int'l Scouting
Really good interview. Kudos to Brian for getting it done. He's one of the best in the business IMO.

I watch every single game religiously.

Who Will Be The Next Manager of the White Sox
QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Sep 23, 2016 -> 09:41 AM) I would be pretty disappointed if it is Rick Renteria or some other old retread (Gardenhire, Washington, etc.). I am not against the Sox going away from hiring old players with no management experience, but its hard not to like the idea of AJ. I think he will be a great manager some day. He'd certainly spice things up. Would you be willing to hire another former Sox player that doesn't have any managerial experience whatsoever? I love A.J., but making him the manager would feel like Robin Ventura 2.0 to me. I don't see him being any better than Robin if he were to manage the team next year.

Was Terry Bevington a better manager than Robin Ventura?
I wasn't around when Bevington was the skipper for the Sox, but it's hard to imagine that anyone could be worse than Robin.

Who Will Be The Next Manager of the White Sox

My vote goes to John Cena. They could play his song every time he goes to the mound. That would be lit.

Baseball in America on a Wednesday night Sept 21st
Honestly, I'd shut every starter down and hope to lose out in order to get the 10th pick. There's nothing to play for anyway at this point.

Baseball in America on a Wednesday night Sept 21st
It seems like Sale loses focus/intensity against poor teams. It's becoming a trend at this point.

Who Will Be The Next Manager of the White Sox
I think Renteria would be a major upgrade over Robin. He turned the team on the North Side into a decent team with very little work with. The Sox have much more talent than the Cubs did at that time.
-
Who Will Be The Next Manager of the White Sox
Most likely Renteria IMO, though I wouldn't be surprised if they wanted a former player like A.J., Rowand, Thome, and maybe even Konerko to take the job.

Jose Abreu: White Sox Don't Have Same Desire to Win As Royals
Out of all the problems the Sox have, Adam Cory Eaton isn't one of them. He's one of my favorites because he always gives everything he has on a particular night. To say he has no desire to win is ignorant and dumb.

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Sep 20, 2016 -> 09:38 AM) Signing Josh Reddick as our big ticket FA move would be so White Sox. Hey, he used to be good. That's a good enough reason for the Sox to sign him now.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Sep 20, 2016 -> 08:36 AM) Forfeiting a draft pick to sign a free agent is worst case scenario this offseason. The White Sox can not give up draft picks. Reddick wouldn't require a draft pick. Getting him is better than not doing anything at all if they don't want to rebuild.
