  1. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 05:50 PM) Does AJ have problems catching lefties? I don't get this. Remember the commercials where he uses one hand?
  2. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 04:43 PM) I don't know why, but I am lovin' the hostilities brewing on the south side - GM storms out of the clubhouse, manager calls his team horses***, players feeling neglected. Haven't seen this kind of drama in awhile. I know what you mean. A little fire in the belly might be just what the team needs. A good fight sometimes helps too. We are playing the Tigers. Maybe Inge will take a swing at AJ when AJ is passing 3rd in a homerun trot. Then Pods and Anderson can fearlessly throw themselves into the fray again. Fields can jump on the pile and pull Maggs hair. Leyland will come out with a cigarette in his mouth and hold his own against Ozzie despite being 90 because he's old school. Wise will take on the entire Detroit bullpen and be a hero. KW will flip over a table just because. Nearly 6 years in the making....my 1000th post. Nice being here with you all.
  3. Booing him does no good. The man's just trying to make a living and do the best he can. Booing Ozzie for playing him if there are better options and booing KW for not giving Ozzie better options is more reasonable to me. As long as he has the black hat with SOX on it, I want him to play well. I really think KW needs to move both Anderson and Wise and hit the reset button in CF.
  4. Get your first one tonight Beckham, so as Stone Pony said "things will loosen up for him". I wonder if Stone meant sphincters? Sit back, relax, and have a cold delicious beverage or two Soxtalk. Sox will win tonight!
  5. QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 01:15 PM) Johnson for Dotel helps both teams. While we want to let the market go up for OD's value, we want to add a bat to the lineup before more of the year slips away. Obviously we would want Reed and something of value in addition. Reed Johnson would be a nice upgrade for the Sox. He had some nice stats with Toronto a couple of years ago before having some back problems. There are two things I can't tell very well from the stats. Is he a good fielder? Is he a good situational hitter? If Poreda is ready, then moving a bullpen arm for Johnson might be an upgrade.
  6. Why now? If there are going to be trades, it would be to restructure the Sox with hopes of contending this year. It would be a shake up kick in the pants deal. If it would be to dump salary or acquire young talent, why not wait until closer to the deadline?
  7. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 08:30 AM) I'd never say one bad thing about Big Frank. Never. He's the best player I've ever seen play here and he did it cleanly. I have even more respect for Big Frank after the Giambi/AROD/Bonds Roiders. To hear Tim McCarver talk about no DH's in the main Hall of Fame really, really made me angry. No Big Frank, then it really isn't a hall of fame in my mind.
  8. Nice to see Big Frank is still comfortable being associated with the Sox considering the circumstances he left under. I think Frank will do a good job. I miss Big Frank.
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 08:09 AM) Well we really are punting on this season. Oh well, hopefully Aaron does well. We are really going for it this season. We are bringing up our best players arbitration clock be damned.
  10. QUOTE (rangercal @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 12:34 AM) I don't see anything wrong with Rock's posts. He's right. Too many negative people here. A reason I frequent PHT a lot less. I agree. It's too early to give up on this team and there is a tendency to be too negative here. Everyone is entitled to their opinions and this is as good a place to rant as any. It can just get depressing when so many are saying release this bum, F this team, or this team is dead blow it up. Not my style. Everyone is entitled to theirs and I understand hating to lose and having a passion for winning. I only speak up for Rock.
  11. Too early to give up. This team could win the next 15 out of 20. There may need to be a few shake ups to somehow hit the reset button on this team. I'm still in despite the recent poor play.
  12. How can anyone complain about signing a 2005 Champion to a MINOR league deal. You do that for ANY of those guys not to mention one that might have a little bit left in the tank and be of some value. This is a good move just for Charlotte's attendance.
  13. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Jun 7, 2009 -> 11:53 AM) Those other four guys are not on the verge of losing their job and possibly careeer to a player that may or may not be better than Josh Fields. My personal belief is that Beckham could not have been called up at a worse time as the tension has to be somewhat high in that clubhouse. Maybe competition is what KW wanted to help focus a few players and give them an edge.
  14. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jun 6, 2009 -> 05:20 PM) The way Thornton is pitching against righties, I think he might be the best reliever in baseball. He has been sick the past 2 weeks. KW acquired him by trading Joe Borchard. Joe Borchard. Nice.
  15. Change his nickname from Slayer to Sleeper. Another 1st round bust. He's a disgrace to the number 15.
  16. I've argued to reassign Walker since 2007. I give up. Maybe the scouting is the problem. Here is what I'd do for the next game against a pitcher that the Sox have not faced. NO scouting, video, or even discussing the pitcher. Play an agreed upon comedy movie like Major League during the time usually dedicated to studying the pitcher. Then put everyone's name in a hat and the order they are drawn determines the batting order. Everyone with a mustache shaves and everyone including Hawk and Stone wear fake mustaches if they normally shave. In other words, loosen the sphincters and say to hell with it. At least if they get shut out, they can say they had some fun and get back to work the next day. Whatever they are doing now sucks and we are all tired of it.
  17. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 4, 2009 -> 12:44 PM) Wise to play with a .161 average day after day is showing how stupid OG comments of his critics are! If Anderson is sick then Wise has a chance to shut me up. I hope he goes 5 for 5.
  18. QUOTE (TitoMB345 @ Jun 4, 2009 -> 12:38 PM) Slayer just announced the name of their new album... coincidence? Slayer the band is quite disturbing. Slayer the White Sox infielder will make the world forget there was a band. Slayer the band will start writing power ballads to pay homage to Beckham's gorgeous swing. Over under on Hawk saying "Good looking young ball player" today is 3.
  19. QUOTE (TitoMB345 @ Jun 4, 2009 -> 12:34 PM) Beckham didn't sleep last night? That's not good. Adrenaline will get him through today. It will catch up to him tomorrow. Can't blame the young man. Some of us couldn't sleep last night after hearing the news! Short term prediction: 1-4 with a mental mistake at 3b causing most of Soxtalk to turn against him and demand KW be fired for rushing him. Long term prediction: .300 lifetime hitter, ten all-star appearances, and 5 White Sox World Series Rings. Dream Big.
  20. Anyone artistic and having skill with photo shop care to make a sig with the Beatles with their faces replaced by Beckham's with the caption Beckham Mania!
  21. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 4, 2009 -> 12:49 AM) Replace Wise with just about anyone and I'm finally content with the roster (as long Gobble remains mostly unused). A healthy TCQ would be a nice 2nd half of the season upgrade over Wise. Q needs to take a break from working on his swing and let the foot heal.
  22. Beckham >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Betemit especially defensively. Beckham has a great future. For this year though, if he can hit .280 with 10 HR, I will be impressed. Beckham will not take you by the hand and ascend into Heaven, but I think the team has improved and we have some extra excitement. I'm still happy the Sox traded for Betemit because that kept the Sox from being hamstrung by paying Swish 8 million to hit .220. KW will trade Betemit for some NL diamond in the rough and whoever that is will end up in our top 10 prospects by the end of next year. That's how KW rolls.
  23. Welcome to your new home Gordon Beckham. You are now the most anticipated Sox position player since Frank Thomas. No pressure. Good luck. I hope to root for you as long as I did Big Frank.
