Is It Time To Call Up Bonemer?
Castillo, Urquidy and Brazoban were the best they could do? And Doyle? A golden chance to win a Division championship seems like it may be evaporating before our eyes - that would be a sad ending for one of the best White Sox seasons in a long while.

Not likely to go on a run and win the Division with this starting pitching. Urquidy and Castillo . Oh yea bring up Bonemer.

Getz refused to trade Bonemer for pitching. Just punted this season.

So what? This is the year and this is the team. They should have made the deals for Adell and Holmes. You never know when the Sox are going to be in this position again.

Do you think Schriff will be back next season?
I know. It is so sad that Stacey is gone and yes, he would have gone crazy for this team. Much hot sauce. There is no replacing him and we will never forget him.

“The 78” + "The Railyard" = the future of the Sox and Fire
Clever move sh1tcanning Armor Park and Rate Field without spending a dime of his own money. And, as SS2K pointed out, it would be difficult to stop Amtrak/Ishbia from doing this. The agreement with Reinsdorf and Ishbia provided inter alia that " Ishbia will make capital infusions into the White Sox as a limited partner in 2025 and 2026 that will be used to pay down existing debt and support ongoing team operations." Was there any infusion of capital that assisted or could have assisted the White Sox in 2025 or more importantly, in 2026? As an example, a relatively small amount of financial support may have made a big difference at the trade deadline. Instead Getz appeared to be cash strapped during a pennant race. There are a lot of questions and it would be helpful to hear some answers from Ishbia himself rather than having to listen to his surrogates and attorneys.

Yea, Getz should have traded Bonemer at the trade deadline for a starter instead of doing almost nothing.

8/23 White Sox vs Mets: Newcomb vs McLean
The Scouting reports have been out on our LH hitters' vulnerabilities against LH pitching, especially off-speed pitches and high/inside fastballs. Sox have to make adjustments early whether that involves patience at the plate, going the other way or attacking fastballs early in the count. But that sounds too easy. Hitting major league pitching has become rocket science with all of the stats and advanced scouting out there. Maybe we need lady luck.

S2K said: "This is property law as it applies to railroads, who have been granted near absolute power in this country by virtue of rewriting property law in the late 19th century to seize land to go cross continent and create company towns. You can turn it into a values judgment if you like, but I am stating facts and history here, from first hand experience. Yea there could be some legal (and factual) arguments that can be made, i.e., whether or not the land to be acquired next to the Armor Field house is really for a railroad purpose or primarily for a private purpose. LOL. The motive behind this as clear as light...but who wants to pay attorneys to go up against silk stocking attorneys from Amtrak and Ishbia in Federal Court? Concerned Sox fans? Cork and Kerry? ISFA? The Chicago Park District? As I alluded to earlier, this guy is just another billionaire bully that will pay-off anything or anybody in his way. No reason for that meeting in Bridgeport. This thing is a done deal. So Ishbia sh1tcans Bridgeport, Armor Park and Rate Field easily with almost no opposition and apparently, no consideration of alternatives.

Tough to leave men on base down by 3. Then there is giving up 7 runs so far. Does not look like something that is sustainable. But nothing that we did not know already.

8/22 GT Sox/Mets, 6:10. Jump on the momentum
What a lost opportunity. No financial backing to trade for or acquire pitchers, or just plain foolishness.

Sox needed to sign some decent starters and some help covering new debt at the trade deadline. Oh well.

Castillo doesn't have a good put away pitch so he is throwing a lot of pitches and getting in trouble.

“The 78” + "The Railyard" = the future of the Sox and Fire
It's telling that Ishbia did not seek community or fan input until long after Ishbia made the decisions and gone far down the road with his plan. So now what is the community meeting about? A taller fence between the Armor Park building and the rail yard ? Well OK, I noticed 87 million of the RR loan supposedly dedicated to "viaducts" in Bridgeport/Armor Park. That seems pretty light considering the poor condition of railroad bridges across the streets leading from the North to 35th street and beyond, and the storm sewers and streets in the viaducts. Moving forward, what is Ishbia's plan, if any, to deal with Rate Field and to compensate the ISFA for demolishing it ? At the end of the day, this is a move to convert public assets into private ones. The fans will pay the price for years to come.

You don't know anything about the issues. Pure vengeance.

“The 78” + "The Railyard" = the future of the Sox and Fire
What did this billionaire do at the trade deadline to fund (in his way to borrow/finance) acquisition of two pitchers at the trade deadline to help this team? This is ALL about the billionaire. Watch how much it costs to get to the train yard, buy tickets and concessions.

Hopefully there will be an attorney or two representing fans and residents opposed to this. Right now this looks like a one sided ass-kicking. Lay down and take it from this guy, right?

Look at the CN rail yard in Harvey. Put that right next to Armor Park and the neighborhood there? A 4 story train warehouse right on 35th street? As Hawk might say, you have got to be bleepin' me Consider the 120 year history of the Daniel Burnham designed Armor Park (put a train yard right next to that) and the historical home of the White Sox home of their defeat of the Chicago Cubs at South Side park in 1906. Baseball is largely tied to tradition. There is no tradition at the train yard. The Petco Park analogy is absurd. The views from the park are largely unimportant, as they are at Wrigley. An open air stadium no longer makes sense in Chicago. The canal is a joke and the condition may get worse over time. (see the ongoing Brandon lock project which hopefully will prevent flying Asian carp and other invasive species from getting into the Great Lakes). This isn't the Three rivers. It's a gross, mucky, shallow canal that still gets sewage overflow. What does Ishbia, a Detroit native and Winnetka resident, know (or care) about the South side? Nothing. Why did/would the ISFA sell anything to Ishbia? It is clearly against their interests. Oh, also bought and paid for. Why are majority stock owners including Mellody Hobson Lucas and the Reinsdorfs allowing this guy to do whatever he wants? I guess they are bought and paid for like the Mayor and Alderman. Look, this entire thing is driven by an entitled billionaire that is propelling his boyhood dream to own a baseball franchise and a new stadium and now he is proceeding like a runaway freight train. I suspect that with all the money Ishbia has, he has hired a few shills to promote this. Nice try with the sale job, but I'm not buying it. It does appear that no one can stop this guy and I am aware of that. But it doesn't mean I am going to hold back my feelings about this as someone who has been a White Sox fan all my life and knows Chicago.

Do you think Schriff will be back next season?
There is a history of the White Sox on the Southside that dates back over 120 years. Back in 1906 (a year after Armor Park was built at 33rd and Shields ....(you know, where Ishbia wants to move a railyard)) the White Sox defeated the Cubs in game six of the World Series at Southside Park. Schriffen appreciates that history and the tradition that the White Sox have on the Southside, and, to his credit, he has played into it. He also challenged Plesac about his favorite ballparks noting that Wrigley does not even rate with the better ballparks, and it doesn't. Place is a joke.

Both in the line-up would be preferable.

Oh yea, Armor Park. The South Park Commissioners acquired the land for this park in 1904. Development of the park included a fieldhouse, with four clubrooms, two gymnasiums, an assembly hall, and large lobby. Outdoor amenities such as lawns, walks, and plantings were installed and recreational facilities included an outdoor swimming pool, baseball and football fields, handball and tennis courts, and a children’s playground. The development was completed in 1905 and there was a dedication of the park that same year. In 1906, the year after Armour Square opened to the public, President Theodore Roosevelt described the square and nine other related properties as "the most notable civic achievement in any American city." Nationally renowned landscape architects the Olmsted Brothers and architects Daniel H. Burnham and Co. designed the entire system. ___________ The man from Winnetka has run roughshod with that town to get his Northshore Mar-a-lago . Hate that he is doing whatever he wants now in Chicago.
