  1. The Penn State/ Sandusky, Blackhawks/ Aldrich, OSU/Strauss sexual abuse scandals were disturbing, but here, the victim who has autism makes this even worse. There has to be a higher standard of conduct required for organized sports teams at every level. What I mean by that is that anyone who even suspects or has knowledge of abuse should suffer some consequences if they fail to report it. In the meantime, make an example out of the offenders and those who stood by and said nothing. I recall Hawk Harrelson praising Omar Vizquel for his playing abilities. Hawk must have been disgusted when he heard about this as I am sure Vizquel's former teammates like Jim Thome are as well. I hope the young man gets a good lawyer.
  2. Grandal is a big player (225 lbs. ?) so crouching down to receive pitches and then having to explode into a throwing posture to catch a base runner will be a tall order so soon after his surgery. If he can make it back 100%, that would be an incredible lift. Collins had been pining for an opportunity to show his abilities at the major league level for several years. Now that he has arrived and received substantial playimng time, I am not sure it was worth the wait. He is just OK....as a back-up catcher. If Yaz can't return to catch this season, I hope Hahn can somehow bring in another catcher for the play-off run.
  3. Cesar Hernandez at 2B makes the Madrigal for Kimbrel trade easier to accept, at least until Hernandez' contract is up next year. Hernandez defense and home run power make me wonder why Cleveland let the Sox get him. Now , with the return of our starting LFer , CFer, and hopefully catcher, we are going to be ready to roll at just the right time.
  4. I think that is right Cali. I wonder if there is any chance the Sox try to sign Rodon to an extension before the play-offs as a gesture of extreme confidence in him .
  5. Vaughn is a 1B/ DH long term. He is as slow as molasses.
  6. Gavin sheets single knocked in what ended up being the winning run in the 8-6 victory. That kind of of got lost in the midst of that home run barrage.
  7. Really?
  8. Kimbrell blows face and gets his balls busted at Wrigley. His-to-ree as Hawk used to say.
  9. Cody will come in for the fvlking save.
  10. I hated that fvking trade. and I still do.
  11. Reason you leave Lance roll in the 7th for thr first batter is because you never if a pitcher has control right away when he comes in from the pen. It is not always a bad decision. You are not smarter than LaRussa.
  12. Should have been Eloy up there.
  13. It's hot and humid out there. These guys want to finish this out and hit the AC clubhouse.
  14. We need to win this game and this series. I don't mind extending Lynn.
  15. Lotsa people questioned Tony putting Engel at #2.
  16. Yes, you can injured anywhere.
  17. Vaughn should have called Tim off.
  18. If this was a more meaningful and competitive game. Eloy doesn't get subbed for with Goodwin in the 6th.
  19. Finally, you agree.
  20. Non-responsive and absurd. I said he was part of a Cuban core of players for the purpose of pointing out how close those players are to one another. They speak the same language and have similar cultures. You might want to look at a map and do some reading to see where the Dominican Republic is and how it is related to Cuba.
  21. I have been against the entire concept of glorifying the Black Sox scandal from the beginning. I hope this is game is one and done and that the field is reclaimed for farming.
  22. Beyond the hyperbole, Eloy has consistently stated (as recently as this week) that he has no intention of being a permanent DH. That is his choice. What would the Sox option be to compel him to serve or to force him to serve as they require? Bench him? Threaten to trade him? OK, but they won't. Beyond being a star player he is part of the Cuban core of players -Pito, Yoan, Robert, that are too important to break up. A short while ago some here thought that Yermin should be free to disobey his Manager and do as he pleased without apology. Oh yes, that was new school. Well Eloy is new school as well. Unlike Yermin though, he is a legitimate star player that will ultimately play where he wants to.

  24. Yes, no more involuntary servitude.
