  1. It is part of the reason that I suggested to put Engel in CF and Robert in RF and if that works, to leave it that way for a while. Robert has a great arm which is needed in RF. Engel has wall climbing ability and can cover as much ground as Robert. Mazara should be out of the picture .
  2. What Kyyle said. Also, like other Sox fans, I hate when we lose to the Cubs let alone when we get get blown out like yesterday. I hope Dunning goes at least 5 innings, but I have to admit, I am concerned that he could get lit up by the Cubs. It that happened it could cause the Sox to react and to lose focus on the play-offs. Again, the Cub series is always relevant, but it could become a real distraction.
  3. I wonder Eloy injured the same foot/ankle that he did when he ran to first base and came up hobbling after hit the edge of the bag. RR came out to talk with him....and left Eloy in the game to run the bases. on it. Probably another bad decision by RR.
  4. The Sox can go out and get a CFer as well. It depends if you want more athleticism and speed or more home run power. Right now I want to see Engel in CF and Robert in RF. Try it for a few games. The players might like it. Robert could use his arm in RF a lot more than he does from CF. Engel doesn't even look the part of a RFer. Central casting and all that.
  5. Robert has the best arm out of our current OFers and would be a great RFer.. I would start Engel in CF because he catches almost everything and makes highlight reels catches on balls hit near or over the wall. If he under performs offensively, then maybe you look for a guy with Buxton's skill set for CF instead of looking for a LH hulk bomber who sucks on defense for RF. That was the thinking behind acquiring Mazara. Maybe you get off that strategy , put Robert in RF, and look for a CFer with some power but also speed and defensive prowess.
  6. You can't lose the Cubs 10-0 without at least staging one benches clearing baseball pussy fight.
  7. Sign McCann and make Grandal the back-up catcher and DH. Robert has an inexplicable loss of strength. Don't tell me he was juicing and quit.
  8. I like trying to think outside the box. Engel, IMO, is a Center fielder like ironically Aaron Rowand. Very similar player. Robert looks like he could box out physically in the coming years and become a corner outfielder. If he looks good in RF then the Sox don't have to fill that position in the off season. It also removes Mazara from the line-up until he gets non-tendered. No worries about impacting Robert's offense the last few games this season. He can't do much worse than he has been doing.
  9. Move Robert to RF to fill that hole and put Engel in CF. Engel looks like he should be a full time player and CF is his best position. He really knows how to time his leap and make some great leaping catches at the wall.
  10. Dunning reminds me some of Dennis Lamp..for those who are still alive from the period in history.
  11. The Gayle from Kansas, IMO the most elusive running back and kick returner in NFL history.
  12. I'd rather see Grandal and McCann platoon between Catcher and DH, The Sox would then only be exposed to EE for one at bat a game as a pinch hitter.
  13. Generally, relievers have more longevity, including big fast ballers. i.e. Goose Gossage. I am worried that his arm will not hold up as long as a starter, so... Closer.
  14. and part of his D seems to be lacking, specifically balls hit against the wall.
  15. Just some random thoughts on Robert, Engel and Mazara: 1. Robert can range to his left or right with the best and fastest in baseball. However, he has not played balls hit to the Center field wall very well. I think he will learn to do that, but for now, that is an issue for him. 2. Adam Engel almost looks like Mike Trout when he goes up against the CF wall, times his leap, and tries to rob a home run. That was one of his things last year and we have not seen it this year with Robert in Center. 3. Engel makes more contact at the plate than Mazara. He also hits a few home runs and is a faster, better base runner. 4. So maybe Roberts is the best fit for RF, at least right now. That opens up Center for Adam Engel, his best defensive position. And it puts Mazara on the bench, his best position for the last few games and the playoffs. I know, this sounds like an out of the box short term solution for the rest of the season, but sometimes those can be useful. .
  16. The end if this season might be moire ugly than we ever imagined.
