Clutch Collins ! -
We need to have a Manager that can communicate with players in English and Spanish. Renteria's job is safe because I can't think of anyone other than Ozzie that would fit. If it was me, I'd give Ozzie the job. After all, pro sports is is an entertainment business.

It is possible that after Grandal got the big contract his head got too big. Yea get rid of McCann and keep this jerk. -
I would.

Omar looks like he put on a few pounds and he is not going to hit many home runs. . Pina is 33 and has limited power. No, they could use a young LH hitting catching prospect with power We could too, if the Sox didn't sign Grandal.

Bauer is a great pitcher but I don't like his cocky attitude on the mound. I guess that sounds like Ozzie not liking Swisher but it is what it is.

I don't get how Vaughn fits in on the roster, at least for the next few years, especially if Eloy is at DH and Abreu is at First. Admittedly this is my own first impression, but to me Vaughn looks so awkward defensively taking throws from the left side of the infield. He doesn't have the height to reach high throws or the flexibility to catch throws that are off the mark. His lack of speed is pretty surprising for his age. I don't know, maybe Eloy will stay in Left long term and Vaughn can DH. I certainly do not see him replacing Abreu at first base for the next few years.

Glass half full with hitting and half empty or more with pitching. I liked a few of Milwaukee's pitchers during the 4 game series. I would trade Collins for Peralta if they would do it. They seem like they could spare one of them.

Madrigal leaves with injured shoulder - separated - out a month

Head first slides should not be allowed by the Sox. Imagine losing Robert for a year again because of a stupid head first slide. There is too much force/momentum to stop on a dime when you go in head first. A feet first slide allows your ass to hit and absorb the energy of the slide, not your chest and worse, your shoulder. So we have to hold our Breath every time Robert steals knowing the oven mitt won't prevent a jambed shoulder or elbow, -
I had RF reserved next year for Oscar Colas.

That nickname seems like an effort to sanitize "Luis" of its Hispanic character and even make it sound a bit Southern. Might as well call Jose Abreu - JoBrew . Sweet Home Alabama... I'm going to stick with Luis Robert and his nickname, La Pantera

Very good comparison Cauli. I would just add a few more arrows >>>> for Nelson Cruz over EE, and that has been one of the few disappointments thus far.,

We used to be able to skip the Home half inning to catch a bite or do something when the middle and bottom of our Order was due up. Now, you don't want to miss anything because there is a good a chance to see hits, home runs and scoring in every inning. That must be absolutely dreadful for opposing pitchers. The other thing is that our hitters are being patient at the plate. They aren't just hitting home runs but are covering the plate when there is two strikes on them and getting clutch hits. It's really been a pleasure to watch so far. Not much to not like about our 2020 White Sox.

Madrigal is more valuable to a team that doesn't need power from its second basemen. That's the Sox right now. We are loaded with power up and down the line-up. Mazara is another guy that is going to hit 20+ bombs every year.
-
Leury had some early errors, but that was not surprising given that he has been playing all over the field. Just leave him at second when TA comes back. His bat at the bottom of the order has been a revelation with homers from both sides of the plate and a couple of multi-hit games. Madrigal was an effective hitter in college using an aluminum bat. I wonder what the average exit velocity off Madrigal's wood bat is now ? That would be an objective parameter to consider in some of these discussions.

I was posting about the last several Draft picks....in totality. I think Madrigal is still an unproven commodity as is Vaughn. Speaking of Vaughn, I hated the Sox passing up Ed Howard and taking Vaughn. I don't see how Vaughn can do anything but DH and I do not see why any team would use a high first round pick for a DH.

Fulmer, Burgur, Madrigal and Vaughn....Maybe the Sox should focus on the International talent pool.

Collins will now miss the narrow window of opportunity to be a starting catcher with the contract to Grandal. It might be best for Collins career if they trade him. He could start on some other teams. I am anxious to see how Vaughn will develop defensively at first and how he will hit in the minors next year.
-
Vaughn is the best hitter? In college perhaps.

I love having Mercedes to pinch hit late in games where you need one big hit to stay in it.

Love it !

IMO, Eloy will be serviceable in LF if he loses some weight and gets in better shape. Weight loss and conditioning served Avi Garcia pretty well after he planted himself like a lawn dart and injured himself. Eloy looked like he was in a lot batter shape a few years ago. Although he was still doing some stupid shit. Vaughn might be OK playing defense at first, but that has not been evident thus far. Obviously he is not the prototypical tall 1st baseman with a long reach but maybe he can master the position by next season or the year after.
