Len Kasper is new White Sox radio play by play announcer
Kasper recommended Benetti for the job and thinks highly of him. The two working together though might be a bit too nerdy for some South siders. This move is not as momentous as Harry moving from the Sox to the Cubs . However, it does seem to be having an impact on the perception that Chicagoans have concerning the direction that each team is now heading. Perhaps past will be prologue for those of us who may recall how the Sox suffered from switching over to Sportsvision and losing Harry to the Cubs.

Official: McCann is a Met, $40/4 years
severely diminishes a key component. Perhaps TLaR will now call Yadier Molina to see if he wants to play out his last few years as back-up catcher with the WSox.. I can't see the Sox relying on Collins or losing him as a trade chip.

Oscar Colas declared FA in Japan
Not sure any opinion based on Colas' experience in the Japanese league is valid. https://english.kyodonews.net/news/2020/06/d677c6526fdd-colas-case-highlights-latin-players-troubles-with-japanese-baseball.html

Offseason Targets
Given the premium price for top pitchers, I would think outside the box a little and see how much trade value Keuchel has provided that a younger pitcher comes back in a trade. Something like Keuchel plus Reylo plus Collins for either Snell or Plesac. I think Keuchel started to regress a little last season.

Offseason Targets
Robert is an injury risk playing Center, He is a big man that gets up to full speed and then dives for balls hit in the gaps. Eloy is another player with a high risk of injury playing in the outfield. It is going to take a miracle to keep both of them free from injury all season. I am actually more concerned about Robert getting injured because of his combination of size and speed.

Dodgers sign Bauer (3/102, opt-outs, 40-45-17)
Bauer is a fit on the short term deal he has been looking for. I think we get him. I would pass on a mega million multi-year deal for Springer.

Dodgers sign Bauer (3/102, opt-outs, 40-45-17)
Get Bauer and then trade for Benintendi or another LH hitting RFer.

2020 Election Thoughts
Absurd amounts of wealth concentrated in the hands of a few is becoming a bigger problem. Socialism isn't the answer but SOMETHING and probably more than one thing (like increasing taxes on the wealthy)will have to be done. Same goes for a health care system based on employer based health insurance coverage. It is not a sustainable model for the future. When redneck republicans realize that many of them are on the short end of the stick in this country, the GOTP (grand old Trump party) will see their numbers drop from 47%. Some of them are starting to realize that they were conned and lied to by Trump and Fox News. Nobody likes that.

If no new RF by Nontender deadline, should Sox tender Mazara?
LaRussa is the Manager. Get over it.

Offseason Targets
I am sure they do, but they also suspended him for violating Covid rules by partying with friends when the Indians were in Chicago. I have read that his uncle Dan Plesac likes the White Sox and maybe Zach would rather play here than in Cleveland (who wouldn't, especially for this team?) This would be a costly trade...Perhaps Kopech PLUS Dunning or Cease and maybe Collins thrown on top.. or something like that. The thought of losing our prospects quickly makes me less excited about possible trade scenarios. We just don't know how good Kopech and Vaughn will be so how is their trade value determined ?

Offseason Targets
I would like to see what the Indians might want for Zach Plesac I would also try to find out what Boston would take for Andrew Benintendi, ,,,depending on the prognosis of his rib cage injury. It might be worth buying low on him.

Arozarena released without charges...
He would fit well in the WSox outfield. Too bad the Rays don't make stupid trades.

Sox/Pederson speculation via CSN
Abreu will regress slightly with age, but his fundamentals and approach at the plate are rock solid. Pitchers cannot figure our where to pitch him and when they make a mistake, he almost always crushes it. If you re-sign McCann and bring up Vaughn to DH, you have the best of both worlds---a young hitter who is not under pressure because the Sox have a veteran RH hitter that can fill in or take over if Vaughn goes into a prolonged slump.

White Sox untouchables
Madrigal isn't going to be traded. I doubt Kopech or Vaughn will be either. Stand pat. Hold on to your cards.
-
Garrett Crochet
Will "stretching put" Crochet's arm in the minors possibly make it less likely that he will need TJ surgery (than if he pitched in the majors) ?
-
The Blake Snell Thread
Maybe stand pat during hot stove and see how things go around the league given the Covid situation. If Kopech and Crochet are impressive in ST and look like they have the stuff to eventually make the starting rotation, maybe we don't need to trade for a TOR starter. The Sox are not going to trade Madrigal. He fits our line-up like a glove and is worth more to us than to other teams. Vaughn is somewhat of an unknown quantity . Right now Burgur and Vaughn look like they have a similar upside. Both can hit but they can't field any position very well or run the bases. Perhaps Sox scouts got too enamored with Schwarber before making those picks.

Offseason Targets
Sox really don't need to make many moves. Don't create a hole at second base by trading Madrigal who is a perfect fit on this team. If Kopech and Crochet make a starting rotation that already has Giolito and Keuchel that would be awesome. Sox would still have Cease/Rodon/Dunning/ ReyLo for the fifth spot or the bullpen. I would like the Sox to sign McCann and then hold their cards unless they get blown away with some trade offer.

Hahn runner up executive of the year
Extensions were Jerry Reinsdorf's idea and his money. Reinsdorf met with Abreu and guaranteed he would be with the White Sox long term. Many posters here disagreed with Reinsdorf about that and thought Abreu should not be extended. Abreu was key to the sales pitch to the other Cuban nationals to sign on with the White Sox. .

Hahn runner up executive of the year
Hahn does not share in the blame for poor management, decisions and trades...just the ones that work out.
