  1. Yaz ! And he looks slower than Vaughn... Put him in the outfield!
  2. Maybe Moncada should stop switch hitting. Pick a side, LH or RH and stay with it every time up. Maybe Mendocino can have his bat speed from both sides measured along with other data to make that decision easier.
  3. Eloy - My favorite White Sox player He starts in LF. or wherever he wants.
  4. Average Hone Runs over 162 games based on all career MLB at bats: Eloy Jimenez - 37 Luis Robert - 36 Jose Abreu - 32 Yasmani Grandal - 26 Gavin Sheets - 26 Jake Burger / AJ Pollock - 22 Yoan Moncada - 20 Andrew Vaughn - 19 (source: Baseball Reference.com)
  5. Vaughn misplayed three balls and almost injured Pollock. Imagine if he collided with Luis Robert like that and ended his season. Vaughn is a tank. Bring up Colas, a slightly faster tank, and DH Vaughn.
  6. Vaughn is not an outfielder and probably lacks the range and reach needed at first base, so he is mainly a one tool player. If Andrew continues mashing the ball he has a high ceiling, even if limited to DHing. More HR's would elevate his value even more.
  7. Carlos Quentin who had two All Star years. Vaughn has a similar looking body type with very stable foundation at the plate and a level swing that produced a lot of line drives.
  8. Moncada looked winded as he was running to first yesterday on what I recall was a single. All of us who watch the Sox regularly have noticed that Moncada at times, seems to be in some kind of physical pain....almost like he has an oblique strain, I would guess. That has been going on for a long time now. Whatever that problem is, it appears to impact his stamina while running the bases and perhaps, his bat speed and bat extension at the plate. I would like to see him get better because he is a potential 5 tool player and an elite defender at 3rd.
  9. A 2-2 split in Texas would be OK. It will be hard to get 3 there.
  10. Dickman for Diekman was a good trade. :Looks like Deik will be the 7th inning reliever instead of Kelly.
  11. Eloy was injured. His early at=bats were in April . He is one of the best hitters in the league.
  12. Respect your elders.
  13. Hahn stated something to the effect that he was pursuing a deal until the last minute and it did not work out. I am guessing that may have been a trade for Wilson Contreras (especially because the Sox traded McGuird) nd maybe Happ or maybe both of them since they ended up not getting traded. Regardless of my speculation there, it would be interesting to know who Hahn thought he might get and what he was willing to offer in return..
  14. Eloy looked bad ass last night in the black SS jersey. I hope they drop the '83 jerseys on Sundays and go with the black.
  15. Our big boys have not been hitting enough HR this year. Burger added HR power to the line-up so I would like to see him back. Other thoughts: Zavala has earned a spot on the roster. He is seeing the ball and his D has improved. I was not that impressed after one good game by Sheets. I would not mind it if they sent Sheets down and brought Colas up, or traded Sheets
  16. I did not see the tag
  17. Bullpen day for Oakland .
  18. Nice at bat so far for Z
  19. Leury with the go ahead RBI
  20. Swing for the win.
  21. Keuchel, was a disaster and Lynn has been awful. Giolito has gone from our Ace down to a back of rotation starter. Who knows how many more innings Kopech can pitch this season? The bullpen has been riddled with injuries including top lefties Crochet and Bummer. Several position players have spent a lot of time on the injured list. Not sure what some fans expected from these guys. As currently constructed, this is a +/- .500 team .
  22. Sox need some pitching help. My guess is that some of our bats will come alive and carry the Sox into the playoffs.
  23. I would be happy with almost any decent starter(s) or reliever(s) at this point, so yes to Quintana and maybe trade for Colome or another closer type in case Hendrick has any problems and set-up guys like Kelly and Bummer continue to have arm issues. . I wish the Sox had promoted Colas and demoted Sheets after the ASB so that we could have seen if Colas could handle pitching and defense at the major league level. Probably not, but Sheets is not up to it right now so why not give the next guy up a chance?
  24. Thank you for your response. Not doing well after being diagnosed. I hope the Sox have a better year than most of us think they will. I was hoping for an outfield with (alternating) Eloy/Pollock in Left, Robert/Engel in Center, and Vaughn/Colas in RF.
