The 8-5 Triple Play…
Moncada looks like his mind is elsewhere. He seems like a nice person that unfortunately may be preoccupied with some personal demons that interfere with his ability to focus on the tasks at hand. I initially attributed what I felt was under-performance on long Covid and then on lingering injury, but now I am thinking it may be a mental thing. If so, he may need some counseling and some help from Spanish speaking teammates like Abreu to get him right again.

What about McEwing?

Oscar Colas Story (Is this true?)
I never suggested TA for CF but a few on this forum did. I also never suggested trading Vaughn for Ed Howard which someone accused me of. Montgomery is not proving to be a plus defender as an infielder thus far. There is nothing wrong with trying him out as a corner outfielder, especially when the Sox have TA at SS for several more years and do not have any LH hitting outfielder that has Colson's offensive upside. "Luckily this only needs to be explained to @tray, NO ONE else thinks it’s a good idea " I don't care what a few wise guys think.

Insane that a LH hitting 6'4" No/1 prospect might work as a corner outfielder!

Oscar Colas Story (Is this true?)
1, TA blocks any prospect at SS for a few years 2. The Sox need speed in the outfield 3. The Sox need a LH hitter and Montgomery is starting to show he can hit with power 4. He is as tall as Eloy - 6'4" - and filling out. Looks like more of a corner outfielder than a SS to me. 5. He is the Sox No. 1 prospect. 6. September call-up, especially if the Sox are out of play-off contention. 7. Watch some of his highlight videos. 8. Talent evaluation. 9. Oscar Colas latest comments make me think Montgomery should come up before he does.

If Colson Montgomery could play corner outfield he might be another option to call up later in the season.

Retool Time
Abreu will be re-signed and will be the primary first basemen for a few more years. That leaves DH and platoon 1B spot for Vaughn. That means you trade Eloy and then after that, the damn breaks and you listen to offers on any player. The 2022 version of the Sox never was able to gel because of injuries and under-performance. Anyway, this is the Yankees year, so what difference does it make?

So irrational,...so petulant...so juvenile.

Fire Tony Chant
Questioning every decision LaRussa makes titillates some of the more aggressive posters here . Most weren't even alive in 1983. Tony will almost certainly remain as Manager for the rest of the season which is only a few more months, so have some patience. I'm still thankful that the Sox stayed in Chicago after the Veecks, Harry Carey and moving broadcasts off free TV/ Channel 9 almost destroyed the franchise. That is a wider perspective that some of the younger more immature fans are probably incapable of understanding.

Vaughn has some kind of injury that has slowed him down and impacted his hitting. Perhaps an IL stint when Eloy comes back if it doesn't get better.

Oscar Colas Story (Is this true?)
Sox will reach out to Colas and take care of him.

I said that starting pitching has been spotty. Kopech has been less than even he expected he would be in his last couple of starts. Lynn coming off surgery looked OK in his last start, but Gio, who was our Ace at one point, has been in a funk. Cueto has really helped stabilize the rotation. If Keuchekl was still no. 5, Sox would be in even worse shape. Cease is looking like the Ace right now.

Sometimes We Need to Go Backward Before We Can Move Forward
I hope that a no-name interim Manager is announced after Tony retires/gets fired and that the interim Mgr. is given instructions to tank the rest of the season. Meanwhile the Sox become sellers and no player on the 40 man roster is untouchable, not even Cease, Robert or Vaughn. Take it down to the ground and start over. The fans seemed much more content during a rebuild than they do now during the obvious failure of a rebuild. Lower expectations and fans will be happy again.

GT 6/25: BAL @ Sox (1:10pm)
Eloy is not going to agree. That discussion has already taken place. Anyway, Eloy is not the reason that this team sucks this year.
-
GT 6/25: BAL @ Sox (1:10pm)
Tony should go immediately...bur with any Manager, this team is just not good enough to win the Division. Starting pitching is inconsistent and bullpen is horrible. Not nearly enough home runs , especially during home games. Without a good year from Moncada and Grandall and with all the injuries, Sox are a third place team...in the Central. It is what it is.

Fire Tony so that fans can focus on how this team really sucks down to its core players. .

GT 6/25: BAL @ Sox (1:10pm)
LaRussa will go, but this team will still suck. Way short on talent.
