  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 30, 2017 -> 10:02 AM) I think a guy like Robertson's value being adding to a guy like Q might mean that instead of getting a teams #2 guy, maybe it gets you there #1 guy, plus a little more at the end of the deal. In a Yankees deal, maybe it moves the needle enough that the top prospect is Torres, instead of Frazier. If the Sox make a deal with the Yankees, it would be nice if they ask for a ss named Thairo Estrada as A finishing piece. 21 yrs. old really good glove. Looks like he can hit for average and runs pretty well. It might light a fire under TA as an extra incentive.
  2. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 29, 2017 -> 12:45 PM) Can't throw. Framing is getting bad, and clubhouse cancer. I don't know what value he brings to a rebuilding team other than pointing a finger away from him. The Cubs and Maddon especially, were very worried what his attitude might do to their young players. Agreed. MLB career is on life support.
  3. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jun 29, 2017 -> 12:11 PM) I'm more excited about these three than I am about Giolito, Lopez and Fulmer. I know I keep mentioning him, but don't forget Bernardo Flores. He's having a great year, was promoted to WS, is left handed and a year younger Than hansen and dunning.
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 27, 2017 -> 09:42 AM) At this stage you are looking for progress and improvement. I think an argument can be made that he is the most improved minor leaguer in the entire Sox system this year. While there is still plenty of room for improvement, seeing Micker start to push towards his potential thrills me to no end, especially in a system that still lacks a lot of top end positional potential. I couldn't agree more. Micker is only 20 and it finally looks like he's a real boy. Pinoccio lives!
  5. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Jun 27, 2017 -> 08:18 AM) I'll only add that Alexei was criminally underrated by Sox fans. We'll be extremely lucky if Anderson is as good. Alexei was a really good player who wouldn't take a walk. His base stealing improved with time and his power was pretty good for a shortstop. I really hope Anderson improves enough to be as good as him. When TA was in the minors and first up with the WS I had hope for an improving eye with more walks. Now I don't think he will be better than AR and would gladly settle for a similar player. P.S. I hope like hell I am wrong.
  6. QUOTE (GermanSock @ Jun 27, 2017 -> 04:21 AM) A lot of talk is about position players and rightfully so but don't the white Sox also need another SP prospect? They have giolito, kopech and lopez but each of them has a risk because of the command. If one of them has to move to the pen who will become the rest of the rotation? They can certainly sign a free agent when it is time but I still think they need at least one more high level prospect because a lot of the other pitching prespects are relievers. Keep an eye on Bernardo Flores. As excited as everyone is about Alec Hanson, Flores is having nearly as good a year and is 1 year younger. Lots of exciting prospects in the next wave 2019-2020.
  7. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jun 21, 2017 -> 04:51 PM) He's an interesting lefty reliever in our system, something we are really thin on outside of him and Clark. I certainly could see Bummer getting a look in the pen at some point. Add Jordan Guerrero to the list. So many starters in the system, that might be his path forward. He might be a multiple inning kind of guy having pitched to so many right hand hitters.
  8. Collins has more walks than hits. Will his average go up at higher levels where pitchers are around the plate more.
  9. QUOTE (yesterday333 @ Jun 26, 2017 -> 10:50 AM) Exactly. If Tucker, and probably Fisher as well, isn't included another team will easily beat their offer. Agreed. If Q has 1-2 more good starts in a row, his value should be about back to his off season level. Don't be surprised if the Yankees decide to pull the trigger. They really are almost as good as the Red Sox and Q could help them for a long time.
  10. QUOTE (maxjusttyped @ Jun 26, 2017 -> 12:46 PM) He was productive his entire way up the ladder in the minors and was an above average SS last year despite only playing 99 games. Pretty impressive for someone that isn't a baseball player. Small sample size, league has figured him out. Whatever you do just don't throw him a strike . He was productive in a sense in the minors in that he improved but his obp was always Mediocre even with a good ba.that 3 months of Defense last year is the best you will ever see from him. Bring back alexi.
  11. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Jun 23, 2017 -> 11:57 AM) Most of his defensive problems are just a lack of fundamental preparation, especially to his left where he rounds way too many balls off instead of putting the bill of his cap over his bellybutton and the ball. That's very correctable with time and experience.typical KW draft pick.great athlete, looks fab in the uniform. Only problem is he's not a baseball player.
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 16, 2017 -> 12:44 PM) I might rank Evan Skoug higher than anyone drafted this season besides Sheets and Burger. It is so nice to have a little hope again regarding the future. The pitching was already starting to look good and now adding some serious bats. 2019 can't come soon enough.
  13. Over the last 6 weeks or so Guerrero has pitched like a top prospect again. His secondary numbers are even better than almost all Sox prospects. Does anyone know if his wildness last year was injury related and if so, does he have a chance to make it to Chicago ?
  14. What is this young left handed pitchers ceiling?
  15. QUOTE (SoxFan2003 @ Jun 5, 2017 -> 12:27 PM) I have questions about this too. How many times did he get beaned after that considering this took place "back in the day" when players knew how to "play the right way" and "act like they've been there before"? I watched Harry and Jimmy as a teen . Little did i Know what I was watching. Probably the best duo ever to do baseball. honest and direct always, and funnier than hell. Cubs fans worshiped Harry but never saw him at his greatest. Jimmy brought that out almost every game. R I P Jimmy .
  16. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ May 28, 2017 -> 11:01 PM) yea and he was usually young for his age, certainly a interesting player now that he's hitting in MLB. Yolmer could be a really good 2B for many years to come. What about a 2019 outfield of Robert,Moncada and Avi?
  17. QUOTE (WBWSF @ May 21, 2017 -> 08:02 AM) All in all he seems to be doing a good job. You can't expect him to compete for the Playoffs this year considering the talent he has been given. You can't make chicken salad out of chicken s***. does anyone think that the huge improvement in avi and yolmer this season has something to do with renteria instilling confidence in their abilities? I don't know if it is, but some people have a knack for inspiring others. p.s. I'm enjoying this season more than any season in many years. good vibes.
  18. QUOTE (Sox-35th @ May 18, 2017 -> 02:15 PM) I feel like wherever Moncada is best is where he winds up. There's no reason to force him into a position on a bad baseball team. Don,t know if sanchez will keep hitting, but he did hit for a high average in the minors. isn't 2nd base one of the positions where it is easy to be seriously injured? I would hate to get the new face of the franchise banged up turning a tough double play . And it does look like sanchez is a good defender there.
  19. QUOTE (SoxChinMusic @ Mar 29, 2017 -> 12:24 PM) Absolutely agree. In order to get the proper balance of pitcher(s) and position player(s) w/o sacrificing the quality of prospects, Whitley has the ability to be a TOR starter also. If we were to back off asking for Martes, this may allow us to also get Stubbs. In order to get Stubbs, if we had to work in Jennings or DR, we can do it. Worst case, IF the Astros balk, we could accept Reed and not Whitley with additional tinkering. Reed is simply not quite on the fast track as Tucker may be but I feel he'll work out and is a LHB.. Tucker + Fisher + Whitley + or (Stubbs/Reed).. I agree the Astros could make it happen with several different pieces. It seems to me that the Dodgers want to compete every year and have so much money and talent that they would be more apt to go for it if they think Q might push them over the top.
  20. The Dodgers seem to have the right pieces to trade for Q. He would make their rotation as tough as anyone in baseball. They also have several position prospects and that is where the Sox are thinnest.
  21. Sign weiters and adam lind.bring up moncada on may 17th{carlos mays birthday}.Then you send saladino to right field and release avi. Rodon moncada tilson Quintana melky abeu Giolito frazier lind Lopez Anderson weiters Migo saladino
  22. Life long SOX fan. IMHO Santo was a hall of famer barely. Tons of walks, good power, great defense. Konerko isn't as good. I do agree that the Cubs really pushed him over the top with a media campaign. If there is a White Sox equal to Santo who isn't in the hall, it's Minoso. Outstanding multi-talented player who missed at least 5-6 years Of his prime because of racial quotas used In the 40's and early 50's.
  23. QUOTE (WBWSF @ Jan 19, 2017 -> 01:29 PM) Konerko had a much better career than Ron Santo. The problem is that Konerko will not have the PR that Santo did. The Cubs organization and Cubs tv+radio stations promoted Santo for the HOF for years. Konerko will never have that same type of thing going for him. The only thing that made me happy about Santo getting into the HOF is that he didn't live to see it.
  24. Where is Pablo Ozuna ? Where is Jerry Hairston ? Where is Shingo ? Where is Pablo Torrealba ?
