  1. Eventually even EE will begin to suck. He's 37 and getting older by the day. I'm not in love with ZC either, but he did have a .960 OPS at Charlotte last year. The only way to know if he'll hit is by giving him 200-300 plate appearances. Lots of good MLB players struggle a bit at first.
  2. I agree. We have enough 1B/DH types already. Mazara isn't much with the glove either. Also, McCann hits lefties pretty well. He could DH and pinch hit against them while not catching. 5 million is an overpay, but payroll is still pretty low.
  3. 3 months younger than Zack Collins. He still has a good chance to break out.
  4. while RH is a hack, He has gotten us to the cusp of success. Do we need a different horse to bring us across the finish line? This question will be answered by mid July.
  5. Sox might want to think about Rick Porcello for an innings eating starter. Had a tough year in 2019. good bounce back candidate. Pitching in Boston with a juiced ball can be a real b**** for a location guy. I do like the fact that he always hits 10-13 hitters every year even with excellent control. never been afraid to come inside. If the Sox start scoring a good amount of runs next year, he might win 13-15 games.
  6. I believe he just stunk. Bad part about pitching in Boston. Mistakes almost always kill you.
  7. Hence the inclusion of Porcello. RP has a weird career pattern of being good every other year. Guess which year it is. One thing to like about Porcello also, is his willingness to pitch inside. He hits 10-12 hitters almost every year even with really good control. He knows his stuff isn't great so he actually pitches.
  8. Offer Strasburg 7 years 201 million. First 4 years 37.5 per. Last 3 17 per. Opt out after 4 years. Pay him when every one else is still earning peanuts. Sox have the money. Give him 2 days to decide. If he rejects it, move on to Rick Porcello. I'd actually rather have Porcello than Keuchel.
  9. Checked Bums stats from last year. A very good year by any standard you choose.Only negative was homers. 30 dingers is a lot. On the other hand he's never done that before. Usually less than 20 a season. I'd rather pony up for Strasburg though.
  10. Just make sure the Sox aren't bidding against themselves. Chicago is a great city and Sox fans are great as well. with our young team, it could become a team players will want to be on.
  11. Just remember that JP will hit .217 with 12 homers for us his first year. When we trade for some one they always suck their first season.
  12. Trade Anderson and 3 minor leaguers for him.
  13. Yes he is. Start him at 2B with Leury in RF. When Robert gets here, we'll have a Legit MLB at every position. If Villar has a good year, you won't have to depend on Madrigal as much to contend next year. If Madrigal is good right away, move Villar to RF. Odds are he will out hit Leury. 10 million is cheap if it makes the Sox a playoff contender next year.
  14. Ryu has pitched well in dodger stadium. will that continue in a hitters league and a slight plus hitters park?
  15. Wow! If Wheeler and Hamels follow,2020 will be the start of something BIG!!!!
  16. Sox protected YMercedes today. what does that mean for Collins and Grandal going forward?
  17. I'll bet Ozzie wouldn't mind having a chat with him. Does any one remember him yelling at Frank to work on his 1st base skills instead of goofing around taking grounders at SS?
  18. Sox have always been skittish about using rookies. They'll probably trade him for nothing and then sign an old bum for 50 million.
  19. He was fine in the field the last 3 months. Lots of people struggle in a new job at first.
  20. Don't waste resources via trade. Free agency is better if a team is smart enough. Oh wait, did I just say that?
  21. I'd be OK with Wheeler, Hamels and Avi.
  22. Avi Garcia won't cost a thing but a few dollars. The thing I see on this board most are clowns who say average players are terrible. Avi is a league average right fielder. He also won't cost you prospects or Major league talent. Give him 1 year with an option and then focus on pitching. Cole Hamels and Zach Wheeler would make us an above average team to start next year.
