2020 McCann and Collins. Give Collins 40 games at catcher and 70-80 games at DH/1B. Lets find out if he can play MLB. 2020 is a potential wild card year. 2021 is a potential world series year. Its better to find out next year if he's gonna make it.

Marco G. has pitched solidly for 2 years now, but in a smaller pack his home rum rate might double. If that were the case, he would have trouble just staying in the rotation. Remember he gives up more hits than innings pitched. Add a few taters to that and it could spell disaster.

The only caveat is 2017 is 3 years before 2020. He has been a stud for 5 years though.

I wonder if JDM would have Abreu like numbers if he left Fenway. That place is a hitters paradise.

Also the day when Madrigal and Robert arrive in Chicago. Throw Collins, Kopech, Vaughn and a couple of promising relievers into the mix. Shake with ice and serve chilled.

Speaking of Collins. What happened to him the last 6-7 weeks? If he had a normal drop off from AAA to the majors, he'd end up near an .800-.850 ops. I kinda figured he'd end up being a poor mans Mickey tettleton, but who knows.

I'd extend him for 1 year at 10-13 million, and then thank him for his service. He's been good for the Sox, but his days are numbered. P.S. Throw him a Jose Abreu appreciation day. Heck of a good guy, and he deserves it.

Two good things about Sheets that help. He keeps improving offensively every year even as the levels get harder. Also, he is a plus defender. 1st basemen who have good gloves help more than people think.

Robert,Madrigal and Vaughn will all be added in 2020. Seems to me that we'll have as potent an offense as any one. Sign a real starter and give him 4-5 years. Might miss the playoffs next year, but you never know. 2021 we'll be knee deep in pitching as well.

What kind of year would BR have next year if he were sent back to WS. Probably a triple crown kind of year. Being 2 years younger in a baseball career is the equivalent of a player taking HGH, versus the same player not taking them. Think Duke Snyder vs. Hank Aaron.

Rutherford 2018 WS .345/.436. age 21 years 3 months. Walker 2019 WS .358/.447. age 23 years. Similar numbers. In baseball age, huge advantage for Rutherford. One other thing. Rutherford is 4" taller 20 lbs. heavier and about the same speed.

The fact that you are probably right makes me feel a little queasy.

As far as Collins goes, 25-30 ABs is nothing. It will be hard for him to get plate appearances with McCann catching a lot. They might as well DH him and back up at catcher the rest of the year.

If it were up to me, I'd promote Robert, Madrigal and Collins to the Majors. There will be a learning curve in MLB so they might as well get started now. The Sox are finished for the year and playing these guys won't hurt a bit. With Cease already up the fans could really see what the rebuild is all about. It might also convince a major free agent pitcher the Sox have the talent to win. One other thing, by letting go of some older guys, the clubhouse might take on a fun infectious feel. The last 2 months of losing baseball can be a real drag.

At least he'll have 20 months healing time before the games count. Start at 4 innings a start and stretch him out.
