This ought to lessen the sting of losing out on Ohtani. (I have never heard of this guy. Maybe he’s good. Doubtful.)

Jerry Reinsdorf has never signed someone to a contract greater than 1/9 of this contract. Let that sink in. -

Cameron Maybin: Yankees facial hair rule deters free agents
FloydBannister1983 replied to Quin's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Yeah, it really seems like the Yankees have struggled to attract free agents over the years. If only the Yankees would drop the facial hair thing they could get free agents to come to New York. -
What are the Sox trying to do here, really?
FloydBannister1983 replied to Chick Mercedes's topic in Pale Hose Talk
That’s what I said. Spending a lot on short term players is not spending as most would understand it. Yes the payroll goes up for a couple years but it’s quite easy to bring it back down. Spending the same on long term, impact players is quite different. So he spent for two or three years. Still hasn’t even crossed that $80 million mark for a single player. He overspent on bullpen. -

Spending a lot piecemeal on shorter term contracts is a lot different than committing, wisely, Bryce Harper type money. It’s cheap because you get out from under it quicker. -
That was when I turned on them. When they let the kid that drove the car into the ditch turn around and drive the tow truck.

It was by design. Not a mistake. He can’t remember his coaches names, he deserves the same degree of respect.

What talent do they have worth trading? Roberts?

In my mind I remember Canseco being productive. Don’t know if my memory is correct on that one.

I remember when they picked those two up and I was hoping they could recapture their former greatness. I was a stupid teenager at that point, lol.

Your Personal Sox Likeability Hall Of Fame
FloydBannister1983 replied to wegner's topic in Pale Hose Talk
That’s a great story! Around that same era I sent Ed Farmer a fan letter as a young child. He actually called me and I’ll never forget the look on my dad’s face when he answered the phone. This was back when players didn’t think they were better than the fans. -

White Sox Finalists for Fedde
FloydBannister1983 replied to Chicago White Sox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I’m still wondering. -
I saw him make stupid plays too many times. I also loved Tony Bernazard and it took me a while to forgive Julio Cruz for not being Bernazard.

He’d be there if the list was 20.

House of L Podcast - Why Be A Sox Fan?
FloydBannister1983 replied to South Side Hit Men's topic in Pale Hose Talk
There is in fact a block function if you’re tired of reading posts. Also can’t one be simply a disgruntled or even former Sox fan without being a Cubs fan? -
I hated that guy.
