White Sox Listening on Sale

Jim Bowden said on MLB Radio that a GM told him kind of jokingly that he couldn't get through to Hahn because the phone was busy

I believe it. Like I made reference to yesterday - id forfeit my right testicle to have a tap on Hahn's phone.

I fact, if someone gets me his cell number I'll try hacking a tap into it.

I think trading two high quality pitchers is ridiculous, but let's consider a 1990's style mega deal with the Rangers...

White Sox get: Gallo, Mazara, Odor or Profar and 3-4 top prospects.

Rangers get: Sale, Quintana, Frazier

I don't think they'd give up Odor and Mazara. Plus, I think if you're gonna trade them both you have to send them to different teams to maximize the strength of the prospects. Rather have 2 team's #1

I love fans saying teams won't part with some of these names.

Well, you don't get Chris Sale in that case.

Exactly. The Sox are getting an embarrassing amount of talent in a Sale and/or Q trade, or they don't move either. It's really that simple. Sox can and will name the price, and if it won't be met, they'll keep em. These are trades that cannot be messed up.

Just not the left one?

Just not the left one?

No. I like my left guy but have always resented his big brother.

Bingo. I'm sorry but you gota give up a lot for him. You have to give up quite a bit for Quintana. They have a ton of value. The sox don't need to move them. They're under control for a few more seasons.

Let's try to analyze this from a different tack. What are the holes that need to be filled, going forward a year or 2:

SS Anderson

RF Eaton

1B Abreu

DH ?

C Collins

3B ?

CF ?

2B ?

Lf ?

Trade Sale to Boston for Moncada and Jackie Bradley Jr., filling the holes at second base and centerfield. Boston could use Holt in center, for the rest of the season.

Trade Robertson, Frazier and Melky to which ever teams could fill at least 2 of the other 3 holes, with young cost controlled players.

You could include Lawrie, but he probably wouldn't bring back much.

I'm beginning to get excited about Alex Call as a potential future outfielder.

A DH could best be acquired in the Free agent market, and if Collins ends up at first, Abreu would DH.

Keep Quintana, and hope that Rodon, Fullmer, Adams and Hansen, could fill out the rest of the rotation.

Burdi and Jones might be able to hold down the back end of the bullpen.

I would say Abreu is DH and 1B is a "?."

You could take their whole farm system & it's not enough for both Q & Sale

I'm not a fan of their farm system. Much rather be Boston or LA

Yep. If it doesn't put a huge dent into your organization, it isn't enough for Chris Sale.

No idea why my post got deleted... But the rumor is Chris Sale may have been scratched from his start. Questionable source though. If true then there's the question of why.

Sounds like it's the Rangers that need to cool theirs

It didn't get deleted. It got its own thread because it is kind of important.

Yeah I just saw

Well in other news we can cross off Texas...Giants have basically no shot. You really only have the Red Sox.

Why cross off Texas? Did they just make a trade for another pitcher?
