August 14, 20169 yr QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 13, 2016 -> 04:34 PM) You dropped too few names here. The Sox have had a number of unprovens succeed in the closer role. Jenks was called up from AA and closed a world series 3 months later. Reed was called up and 2/3 of the games he pitched in during his rookie year were games he finished. Santos, of course, came almost out of no where to be a closer. Santiago closing was Robin making terrible choices, Thornton closing made sense but he turned out to just not have the mental makeup for it. The ChiSox have created their own out of an unproven guy several times. I would have no issue looking at Burdi as a closer long-term, but if that's the case then calling him up this year or even before April 25 next year is just financially stupid. It would be as responsible as taking $15 million and lighting it on fire. We already did that with Shields' $22 or $27 or whatever it is million remaining...
August 14, 20169 yr Burdi two innings, two walks, two Ks, no hits, no runs -- and earned his first pro victory Saturday night.
August 14, 20169 yr I'd imagine Burdi will pitch Tuesday and then get called up. #WhiteSox https://twitter.com/BrianBilek_/status/764862666510860288

August 15, 20169 yr QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Aug 14, 2016 -> 06:27 PM) Didn't Rabbit have that first Not quite. His tweet was more of opinion than actual fact that they will.
August 15, 20169 yr QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Aug 14, 2016 -> 07:16 PM) Not quite. His tweet was more of opinion than actual fact that they will. No, that's pretty much exactly what he said, in this thread QUOTE (raBBit @ Aug 10, 2016 -> 11:01 AM) Dave's source in that tweet is me. I'd expect him up in a week or so. I'll get more info soon. If you see Burdi's gamelogs, the Sox have him throwing every third day. He'll continue on that path. Buddy Bell and Curt Hasler saw one of his last outings.
August 15, 20169 yr QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 14, 2016 -> 07:22 PM) No, that's pretty much exactly what he said, in this thread "I'd expect." Sounds more like an opinion than "he will be up."
August 15, 20169 yr QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Aug 14, 2016 -> 07:35 PM) "I'd expect." Sounds more like an opinion than "he will be up." Sure. Right after he said Dave is using him as his source Spin it however you feel, rabbit was on it

Right after he said Dave is using him as his source Spin it however you feel, rabbit was on it Except the comment you're posting about is from 4 days ago. The tweet Dave had is today. Not sure why you're arguing about nothing haha Edited August 15, 20169 yr by soxfan2014
August 15, 20169 yr That means we would need two moves in order for Ranaundo start in Miguel Gonzalez slot.
August 15, 20169 yr QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 14, 2016 -> 08:40 PM) That means we would need two moves in order for Ranaundo start in Miguel Gonzalez slot. Could be kissing albers good bye
August 15, 20169 yr QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Aug 14, 2016 -> 09:25 PM) Could be kissing albers good bye PLEASE be this
August 15, 20169 yr Well this is stupid....what's the point in starting his clock? Unless they have 0 interest in making him a starter.
August 15, 20169 yr QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Aug 14, 2016 -> 10:28 PM) Kahnle optioned to Charlotte and Albers DFA is my guess. I don't see Kahnle being the guy to go. They seem to be using him a bit more now.
August 15, 20169 yr QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Aug 15, 2016 -> 09:17 AM) I could see beck sent down for Ranaudo and alber dfa for burdi Beck makes the most sense because he was the guy just called up. Turner also just pitched the other day, so he is a possibility too.
August 15, 20169 yr QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 15, 2016 -> 09:33 AM) Beck makes the most sense because he was the guy just called up. Turner also just pitched the other day, so he is a possibility too. Turner doesn't have any options.
August 15, 20169 yr QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Aug 15, 2016 -> 09:40 AM) Turner doesn't have any options. Wasn't he already send down this year?
August 15, 20169 yr QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 15, 2016 -> 09:41 AM) Wasn't he already send down this year? Yes, but he did clear waivers.
