Kinda wish Boston had not blown a year of service time by calling up Moncada in September...but I'm nit picking now

 

They didn't waste a year of service time.

If lots of strikeouts are accompanied by lots of walks, I'm OK with that.

 

Who who cares about the strikeouts. If he hits 250/340/480 he's a 4 WAR player.

He was up for 31 days. That really doesn't effect the White Sox in any meaningful way. They have him for 6 years. If they wait 6 weeks to call him up they will get a 7th.

 

This and I really hope he starts in AAA.

It might never catch up with him. The guy's a freak of nature. I don't think injury risk was that high on the minds of teams that were willing to give up half their farm system for him. He's never had any issues with his arm, especially not as of late. He had some dead arm periods/starts when he first converted to a starter, but that was it.

That didn't even come to mind when I said that it's probably a leverage ploy. Makes a ton of sense.

So our two best hitting prospects strikeout a lot but also have a good eye at the plate. Hopefully they can cut down on the strikeouts because those worry me A LOT

Eh, I'll give Rizzo a pass. He is the one that scouted Frank Thomas and recommended the Sox draft him after all. He also negotiated Frank's initial signing.

I'd say it is equally reasonable to worry about Moncada disappointing. Both things are possible. Pitchers get hurt and #1 prospects disappoint.

 

In the end, that does nothing to change the calculus of this deal either way.

Depends how you define "disappoint". He could be disappointing but still be a solid player for multiple years. That's his upside. If it's Garcia-type upside and Moncada winds up sucking, everyone is fired.
