December 6, 20169 yr QUOTE (steveno89 @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 01:59 PM) Kinda wish Boston had not blown a year of service time by calling up Moncada in September...but I'm nit picking now They didn't waste a year of service time.
December 6, 20169 yr QUOTE (Black_Jack29 @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 04:04 PM) If lots of strikeouts are accompanied by lots of walks, I'm OK with that. Who who cares about the strikeouts. If he hits 250/340/480 he's a 4 WAR player.
December 6, 20169 yr QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 02:03 PM) He was up for 31 days. That really doesn't effect the White Sox in any meaningful way. They have him for 6 years. If they wait 6 weeks to call him up they will get a 7th. This and I really hope he starts in AAA.
December 6, 20169 yr The Sox totally f***ed the Nationals last night. KW hates Mike Rizzo. They either leaked to Rosenthal and Heyman or the Nats did after thinking they had something locked up.
December 6, 20169 yr QUOTE (2005thxfrthmmrs @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 03:03 PM) Apparently our targets were Betts and Benintendi + in July, that's why no deal. Buster Olney ✔ @Buster_ESPN White Sox get a big haul from BOS -- and it's a step down for what they asked for in July, which included Betts and Benintendi. And a few months later, they get neither.
December 6, 20169 yr I've been holding my breath waiting for that funky delivery to finally catch up with Chris. Hope I'm wrong, hate to see him get hurt, but at least if he does the Sox dodged a bullet
December 6, 20169 yr QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 02:08 PM) The Sox totally f***ed the Nationals last night. KW hates Mike Rizzo. They either leaked to Rosenthal and Heyman or the Nats did after thinking they had something locked up. Good. Screw Mike Rizzo. He's still a dick for that EJax Adam Dunn stuff.
December 6, 20169 yr QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 02:09 PM) I've been holding my breath waiting for that funky delivery to finally catch up with Chris. Hope I'm wrong, hate to see him get hurt, but at least if he does the Sox dodged a bullet It might never catch up with him. The guy's a freak of nature. I don't think injury risk was that high on the minds of teams that were willing to give up half their farm system for him. He's never had any issues with his arm, especially not as of late. He had some dead arm periods/starts when he first converted to a starter, but that was it.
December 6, 20169 yr Searching to see if Moncada speaks English, I found this quote from 2015: https://twitter.com/ScottLauber/status/620677149800972290 Jose Iglesias signed with #RedSox as teenager out of Cuba. His advice for Yoan Moncada: pick American roommate, learn English Anyone know?
December 6, 20169 yr QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 03:08 PM) The Sox totally f***ed the Nationals last night. KW hates Mike Rizzo. They either leaked to Rosenthal and Heyman or the Nats did after thinking they had something locked up. That didn't even come to mind when I said that it's probably a leverage ploy. Makes a ton of sense.
December 6, 20169 yr So our two best hitting prospects strikeout a lot but also have a good eye at the plate. Hopefully they can cut down on the strikeouts because those worry me A LOT

December 6, 20169 yr QUOTE (flavum @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 03:11 PM) Searching to see if Moncada speaks English, I found this quote from 2015: https://twitter.com/ScottLauber/status/620677149800972290 Anyone know? Conveniently, the White Sox have a manager who speaks spanish.

December 6, 20169 yr QUOTE (chw42 @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 02:10 PM) Good. Screw Mike Rizzo. He's still a dick for that EJax Adam Dunn stuff. Eh, I'll give Rizzo a pass. He is the one that scouted Frank Thomas and recommended the Sox draft him after all. He also negotiated Frank's initial signing.
December 6, 20169 yr QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 02:13 PM) Conveniently, the White Sox have a manager who speaks spanish. Hopefully if he's here for 5-6 years, he'll also be able to communicate with the media and the fanbase too.
December 6, 20169 yr Really hope Anderson and Moncada man the middle infield for the next 6 seasons. Now let's see who else we add. I'm studying so I gota get back but can someone give me a quick summary on Basabe and Diaz? Thanks
December 6, 20169 yr QUOTE (soxforlife05 @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 02:15 PM) Somehow posts like these are not ridiculous but posts saying that Moncada is completely unproven and far from a sure thing are? In this day and age, it is more than reasonable to think a pitcher is going to get hurt. So many of them do.
December 6, 20169 yr QUOTE (Deadpool @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 03:18 PM) In this day and age, it is more than reasonable to think a pitcher is going to get hurt. So many of them do. I'd say it is equally reasonable to worry about Moncada disappointing. Both things are possible. Pitchers get hurt and #1 prospects disappoint. In the end, that does nothing to change the calculus of this deal either way.

December 6, 20169 yr Top three prospects in baseball since MLB Pipeline showed up: 2011: Mike Trout, Bryce Harper, Matt Moore 2012: Jurickson Profar, Dylan Bundy, Wil Myers 2013: Byron Buxton, Oscar Taveras, Miguel Sano 2014: Byron Buxton, Carlos Correa, Kris Bryant 2015: Byron Buxton, Corey Seager, Lucas Giolito
December 6, 20169 yr I'm just surprised we only got 4 guys. I thought we would want another lottery type guy.
December 6, 20169 yr QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 02:21 PM) Top three prospects in baseball since MLB Pipeline showed up: 2011: Mike Trout, Bryce Harper, Matt Moore 2012: Jurickson Profar, Dylan Bundy, Wil Myers 2013: Byron Buxton, Oscar Taveras, Miguel Sano 2014: Byron Buxton, Carlos Correa, Kris Bryant 2015: Byron Buxton, Corey Seager, Lucas Giolito Lot of good names there. Buxton was probably rushed to the bigs honestly.
December 6, 20169 yr QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 02:20 PM) I'd say it is equally reasonable to worry about Moncada disappointing. Both things are possible. Pitchers get hurt and #1 prospects disappoint. In the end, that does nothing to change the calculus of this deal either way. Depends how you define "disappoint". He could be disappointing but still be a solid player for multiple years. That's his upside. If it's Garcia-type upside and Moncada winds up sucking, everyone is fired.
