I think any or all of those relievers could go, but I think they'd try to bring all of them back on Minor league deals.

If it was up to me, I'd just tender all of them knowing my payroll is like five million total already.

Non-tender on Putnam at least.

I think Putnam, Farquhar, and Albuquerque get non tendered.

Is there some sort of rule where they have to wait til this week to non-tender players? I would think if they non-tendered anyone, it would have happened to make room to protect prospects on the 40.

They don’t announce non-tenders until that date.

Remember last year when we thought they were going to let Lawrie go, but it didn’t happen.

It is a good question though- if they intend to nontender a player, why not DFA them before the prospect protection date to protect more players?

I was just thinking that and maybe it has something to do with their status of being arbitration players. Like they can't be released, dfa'd, waived and only non-tendered on this date. Of course, I could be wrong but it sure seems that way.

I definitely wouldn't non tender Jose Abreu. Just my opinion.

This has got to be a joke right?

If not, I’ve lost a lot of respect for Lip. No one that actually watched him play last year would consider non-tendering at this price point. Worst case scenario he should be a solid reserve IF, best case he can be a decent bridge 3B. Either way, he’s worth the $2M or he’s projected to make next year.

And we are supposed to trust your eye test over stats?

I wonder if the Angels would be interested in Sanchez. They have a big hole at 2B.

We have four years of control left with him. I’d give him the 3B job to start the year and then reevaluate things at the trade deadline or more likely next offseason. No reason to rush a trade with him when he can still build up his value and when there’s a chance we may need him.

Oh absolutely. I love him in as a bench piece that can start regularly if needed for injury. Was just tossing out teams that might be willing to pay for him. I know the Angels farm isn't stacked, but they aren't rebuilding during the Trout era.

Trust him, he was on TV for 15 years. He knows this stuff

Thinking back to the 40 man roster crunch last week, I do not recall a single player being non-tendered, so I would imagine the answer is yes.
