Zavala is the lesser prospect and a bit older, so you could probably gamble a few weeks with him in the major league mix and not worry too much about any long-term consequences.  I wouldn’t do anything that could possibly disrupt Collins’ development as he is potentially too important to the rebuild.

Yeah I don't know what I think about the idea of Collins being called up other than the fact it is plausible given the current circumstances. I'll be happy to see him live and wouldn't be surprised if he was good from the get-go and wouldn't be surprised if it went very badly.

The smartest thing would be to play Tim Anderson at catcher. If he sucks they can just draft Bart or if he's gone the next best catcher available and have him or her take Tim's place. The draft is the

Seriously Players who get caught using performance enhanincing drugs should be banned for life.  Give the guys an off-season to get clean and implement that policy.

Any free agents? Brantly came to mind but apparently hes also on the DL in the minors.

Swihart?

They probably want a RH bat

MLBTR speculated Dustin Garneau as a quick fix as he was dfa'd by Oakland yesterday.

I don't think they'd call Collins up right now unless there were no other options. Alfredo Gonzalez or Brett Austin will get the call first.

He requested a trade. That could work

Supposedly Boston’s asking price for,Swihart is ridiculously high.

Yeah, zero chance of Collins.

As unbelievable as it sounds, that's what I saw earlier.

If those rules were in.place, Eloy Jimenez would still be a Cub.

True

But if you need a steroid to treat a sickness or an physical ailment (I believe that was case for Quintana) then there should be a process for guys to take what they need to get healthy.

Because they don't trust Vasquez or Leon, either...want to keep him as a fall-back option if the offense goes south.

It's not obvious to me that Swihart is any better than the no-name AAA reserves we have.

Kurt Suzuki? Aren’t the Braves carrying 3 now? Just anyone...ugh fucking Castillo

He is having a good year and is the primary catcher on a division leading team.  Somehow I doubt he will be traded.

Yeah, I was thinking he was their 3rd for some reason.

Phegley bouncing back and forth from AAA.

It’s not like the Sox are finding out tonight though. I’m sure they’ll get somebody fast.

Will he be suspended before tomorrow’s game or after? If before, it is an afternoon game, they need someone quick.

Is he suspended with pay?

Do we know how recent the test he failed was given?

Geo Soto?

Unlikely...

On the plus side. He will be super cheap

Agreed. Let Collins continue to do what he’s doing.

That said, they haven't had much time knowing that their AAA catcher and one of their AA catchers are hurt.
