Very true, but for whatever reason I believe we went above and beyond to lay out our vision for the franchise.  I just don’t get the sense the Phillies will do something of that magnitude, but obviously this is just me speculating.

Also depends on where that first contract ends up from a dollars standpoint.  If the numbers aren't overwhelming, and you take one suitor off the market, that's not good for the second guy.  If the numbers are truly eye popping, different story.  Second guy might see some benefit.

Haha I'm a music lover. sang in choirs and enjoy musicals but somehow have just avoided things like Glee an the Pitch Perfect movies. But I did go see the Book of Mormon so I can tie that into Bryce Harper since he is Mormon. Also saw Hamilton which we all know is about the 2 Sox relief pitchers .

Chris russo is east coast guy what do you expect.

I wonder if Russo and others constantly do that to the Mets as well, discount them as being second class and worthless because they aren't the #1. Because he sure does talk about the Yankees and Mets ALL DAY LONG on his show.

He did it when mets got cano.

Marcus Stroman couldn't possibly know that Machado is going to the Yankees, right? Seems far fetched that a player on a totally different team would know that before everyone else.

And they were a loser franchise until Theo changed the culture. Now they consistently are one of the top 5 teams in baseball.

Yeah the White Sox deserve the lack of respect right now. They stink and have for years. Rick doesn't make it happen and they are going to continue that mantra beyond next year. 

If we sign Machado are white sox out on harper then.

Russo is hard to take, but in this case, it's also hard to argue with him. The Sox are indeed "second class in the city".
