This is a huge reason why Machado to the Sox is much more likely than Harper

1) He’s used to playing in front of small/er crowds the last couple of years in Baltimore.

2) His agent is not out to get the biggest contract in the history of the game

3) Positional need

4) Already comfortable in the AL

5) All the players they’re surrounding him with in an effort to make him comfortable

6) Johnny Hustle comments/postseason 2018 and injury history have put a ceiling on his value to many teams...

What injury history ? The last 4 years of his career the least amount of games he played was 156 and twice in those 4 years he played all 162 including every playoff game with the Dodgers. If he has problems with his knees they sure haven't caused him to miss many games.

This is going to be a long fucking day.  I just need something, anything to scratch that itch.  I’m literally fiending for some Machado rumors.

I think the instant success of players like Acuna, Buehler, Judge, Andujar, Soto, Albies, and others have clouded people's idea of a patience with young players. It's possible Giolito and Moncada neve

It was 5 years ago and he hasn't had issue so I dunno if it should matter or not.  Physical will tell.

Machado has joined the elite group of players I follow on Instagram to 2, he joins Luis Robert. Please let IG end up as the clue to him signing with us.

They...always were?

I'm Ron Burgundy?

I think most of this is overblown, but these two points particularly. Every agent is always trying to get the biggest deal in history, especially Machado's. Also, he played for the Dodgers. Why wouldn't attendance / fandom matter to him?

At least playing for the Orioles in recent years has mentally prepared him for what a season in Chicago would look like...at least 2019 and probably 2020 as well.  Not sure how well that would sit with Harper.

Damn!

Nothing to do now but hope he's wrong.

Like I was saying yesterday...

Color me skeptical. I don't know why that guy would be the first to know about a deal of this magnitude.

You should proud that we missed out on a player that could desperately help our franchise...bravo!

Of all places he could have gone, NYC will eat Manny Machado alive.  A guy like that can hide in a lot of markets, but you can't hide in NYC.

He's a former Orioles reporter.

As long as it comes out he took a 50m+ paycut to go to NYY.  Can't support this team if the money was equal from Sox/Yankees.

That's some nice sour grapes you got there buddy

If this is true, hopefully one of the national guys confirms it.  I could have sworn DanClarkSports through out some garbage rumors at least year’s Winter Meetings but maybe I’m wrong about that.

I notice you didn't say it was wrong.

Guy sounds like he's trying to talk himself into NYC IMO.

Unless it's Rosenthal, Heyman, Morosi, etc tweeting it, I'm taking rumors from everyone else with a grain of salt.

I mean you never know, but i'm pretty sure he'll be fine. He handled LA.

How?  If that were the case we should be hearing "Manny leaning towards Sox/Philly due to money" to try and get the Yankees offer up.
