Passan/ Gomez: the White Sox have offered 8/250.

Chicago beat writers: No it’s way less.

Heyman: the Padres have offered 8/250.

SD beat writers: actually it’s much more.

HOW DO WE READ THIS! What is going on?

Bunch of bullshit is how I’d read that lol

Seems Machado saga going to end shortly thank goodness.

San Diego guy said that the Padres can get around the tax issue by giving him a signing bonus. Machado is a FL resident and any SB would be subject to FL taxes, which s zero.

Hahn is holding out for Trout

Yep seems like they’re trying to get creative. He sure seems to think they are gonna get it done.

Hopefully this is just the Padres being used by both agents.

Heyman does seem to think the Pads are in the lead right now though.

Just remember... Dan boy is pushing this train.

Opt outs are so important. If he can opt out after two good years in SD, then we can outbid them in two years and if he flops then SD is hamstrung for a decade by a bad deal.

And if he opts out in two years, then plenty of teams can out-bid.  There is no positive spin to Machado signing with the Padres over us.

Hahn might as well go be the Assistant GM for the Padres if he strikes out.

Let’s see if Lozano or the MLBPA say something about the CBA now. A lot of numbers released today.

Exactly.

Is Lozano bound by the same rules? He isn’t a union member or employed by mlb. Legit question, I don’t know the answer.

Hahn will have a hard time living this down but time flies and it wouldn’t be long until the next big “whale” ( good god I hate that f’n term) is available for him to go after and win the base back on his side.

We aren’t Sox fans because we have had the luxury of winning following this team. We are in it because it’s who we are. We will wait for the next opportunity for the next great player.

Have we all forgotten about the rawlings gloves photo? :lolhitting

I'm going to find it somewhat amusing should the Sox get outbid by the Padres, mostly because of my large/small market discussion with everyone here.

Just saw on mlbtraderumors that Padres didn’t seriously contemplating going after Manny until the end of January. That would be another blow that Hahn shouldn’t recover from.

A deal this size goes way higher than Hahn.

Very true Shipps.

Are you even a Sox fan?

The problem is - literally none of the guys next year are this good of a fit. Both Rendon and Arenado are older. Neither has played in the AL full time. You have to worry about the Coors effect with Arenado.

Yes. Why would I spend countless hours on here for 13 years if I wasn't?

Yeah, there have been multiple reports that Reinsdorf is negotiating directly with Lozano. If the Sox don't land him, you can blame Hahn, but you should blame Jerry more.

Don’t worry, some want the Sox to go after Sale despite a million red flags.
