August 22, 20196 yr Jose Quintana is leading the Cubs pitching staff in fWAR. https://www.fangraphs.com/teams/cubs I miss Jose, and if the Cubs are stupid enough to give into their fanbase and decline his option I'd take him back in an instant. Edited August 22, 20196 yr by Jack Parkman

The only reason why it even crossed my mind is if they want to go after Gerrit Cole. Hamels comes off the books this year, and Lester after next year. Should they want to do that, they could decline Quintana to free up money.

It was never, ever going to be declined, unless he had a career-ending injury. Yeah that makes more sense. Though I wonder if they lose some leverage in a trade if they are over the luxury tax and have to move someone. Edited August 23, 20196 yr by Jack Parkman

They'd actually be at least 10 games back in any other division. They'd be in 3rd in the NLE, ALC and ALW and 4th in the ALE. Edited August 26, 20196 yr by Iwritecode

Gotta love the old belly slides. Baez jammed his thumb last weekend and not ready to play. I personally prefer that productive hitters do not make base-running their forte. God forbid Jimenez tries that for the Hose.
September 7, 20196 yr Schwarber went from a guy the media and others were saying Cubs should trade in the offseason to now being part of the future.
