13th loss when leading after 7

Aren't the sox like perfect in that category?

Jose Quintana is leading the Cubs pitching staff in fWAR.

I miss Jose, and if the Cubs are stupid enough to give into their fanbase and decline his option I'd take him back in an instant.

They aren't declining his option. They never were going to.

I don't think they're that stupid either.

It's not even a thought. If he had a 6.00 ERA, the option would have been picked up. It was never going to be declined.

The only reason why it even crossed my mind is if they want to go after Gerrit Cole. Hamels comes off the books this year, and Lester after next year. Should they want to do that, they could decline Quintana to free up money.

Then you pick up the option and trade Quintana, who still has value because of the team-friendly deal. It was never, ever going to be declined, unless he had a career-ending injury.

Yeah that makes more sense. Though I wonder if they lose some leverage in a trade if they are over the luxury tax and have to move someone.

Swept by the Nats at home

Cubs would be around minimum 6/7 GB in any other division.

Glad all I hear about is how great they are at home and awful they are on the road, only to come home and get swept by a decent team.

Wow, I haven't looked at the standings in a long time but you ain't lying.

They'd actually be at least 10 games back in any other division. They'd be in 3rd in the NLE, ALC and ALW and 4th in the ALE. :o

Would love to see Q step up in the playoffs. Q is a good guy.

Gotta love the old belly slides. Baez jammed his thumb last weekend and not ready to play. I personally prefer that productive hitters do not make base-running their forte. God forbid Jimenez tries that for the Hose.

Schwarber went from a guy the media and others were saying Cubs should trade in the offseason to now being part of the future.

That WAR is skyrocketing and might hit 2.0 very soon. The Babe is back!!

TIL that Jorge Soler has 37 HR and 96 RBI before September 1.

2.4 fWAR with a -15.1 on defense

Baez has a hairline thumb fracture. Big shoes for Z to help fill along with Russell.

Cubs are going all out with Baez injured.  They are calling up top prospect Nico Hoerner to play SS.

Nico Hoerner looked great. Makes it up before Madrigal

He's a really good player.

Yelich done for the year just when the Brewers were getting their shit together...Go AZ

He'll surely join Ian Happ and David Bote in the Hall of Fame

He goes home shopping in Boston.

Tied for the 2nd WC spot with Milwaukee, and Mets/Phillies are both 2 GB. Yikes.
