  • Lord you can tell some of the newbs here who don't understand how this process works in the draft. Been like this for a while.

Scouting Report: An athletic, 6-foot-2, 170-pound righthander, Dalquist has impressed Southern California area scouts with his loose, easy delivery and starter’s attributes despite being slightly undersized. He has a three-pitch mix, all of which have a chance to be at least average, led by an above-average fastball that sits in the 90-94 mph range. He’s been used out of the bullpen at times for his high school, which confused some evaluators because most think he projects as a starter due to his solid breaking ball and changeup. Dalquist gets out on his front side well during his delivery and has some deception. While Dalquist’s pure stuff doesn’t have the explosiveness of other prep arms ranked around him, the complete package and the ease of his operation is appealing to clubs, as is his advanced strike-throwing ability and athleticism. He is committed to Arizona and is expected to be a tough sign.

With the 81st overall pick in the 3rd RD, the White Sox select RHP Andrew Dalquist (HS)

Get as many pitchers as possible. I like it.

Kid needs a few steaks.. damn skinny 170# at 6'2

Gonna be interesting how the Sox will shuffle their bonus money around

Reminds me of Brandon McCarthy a bit

Sox will likely sign a few cheap seniors between rounds 5-10 to make up the bonus gap

Another projectable righty.  Ok

The system needs pitching badly. Having some HS pitching enter the low minors will be interesting to follow.

Like this pick.

I'm liking the high school picks. I guess Hostetler wasn't kidding about more prep arms/bats. I'm a fan.

Sox appear to be following the baseball america/keith law list to draft, not fangraphs

I don't know what's more fun to picture:

@bmags excitement over projectable high school pitchers or @Harold's Leg Lift befuddlement by Hostetler breaking with his history and taking projectable high school pitchers.

(I say this in jest Harold, I love what you bring to the FutureSox board)
