Low risk deal, and I think he still has some gas left in the tank. Hard for anyone to dislike this move as long as we look to add a higher quality option(s).
December 19, 20196 yr I’m ok with this. They could have done much, much worse. Really hope this isn’t the only move for SP.

December 19, 20196 yr They’re no longer convincing that they’re trying to win as a top priority. Priorities 1-5 are maximizing profits while providing a glimmer of hope. You can’t really be upset about this signing but nobody is excited about it.

December 19, 20196 yr I don't hate it assuming we're still going to spend money on another arm. Gio wasn't bad last year with Milwaukee but had a lot of issues staying healthy. If it's a cheap deal and he gives us 150 innings, it's a good signing.

December 19, 20196 yr Reinsdorf is a joke. Catching lightening in a bottle is the way he's run this organization since he bought it for peanuts then realized he couldn't compete with these far more affluent ownerships. The White Sox are cursed by historically bad ownerships. I hold out hope I'll live long enough to see this paradigm finally change. Edited December 19, 20196 yr by GradMc
December 19, 20196 yr If this is the top SP Hahn signs this offseason, he may not want to show up to SoxFest. If Hahn still grabs Ryu or Keuchel, fine.

Didn't like the signing at all when I read it, but then dug into Gio and realized that my opinion of his performance the past two years was wrong and misguided. He's not going to get you deep into games, but he still gets some swings and misses and is still a productive big league arm.
