McCann was so bad last year that it made complete sense to move him to the bench for 2/3 of the games in 2020. You’d think we were the Dodgers or something with no holes elsewhere.

Positional-strength wise, that was one of our top spots.   Repeatable, there was certainly doubt there.   But it was pretty obvious they needed at least one more veteran starting pitcher (certainly more reliable than Gio Gonzalez, something along the lines of Maeda/Odorizzi would have been perfect to really solidify things along with Dallas.)

Grandal has averaged a 5.0 fWAR the last 5 seasons. Only White Sox fans would b**** about his acquisition 2 and 1/2 games into his White Sox career after a long layoff.

See.

Dude if you're going to wear the mask at the plate cover your nose it doesn't work if you don't.

No, this organization sucks. They should have foreseen this. Stop talking your nonsense.

Yeah, who could have seen Jimenez, Mazara, or Robert getting hurt given their sparking records of health!!

The exact reason another OF bench piece was needed this offseason ?

Sox need at least two reliable veteran starters to pair with Giolito if they want to contend. Cease, Kopech, Rodon, and Lopez were all huge wild cards coming into this season. At best, you get decent production from two of those in the 4/5 slots but even that was a huge if.

Whatever happened to that slider Rodon threw at NC State?    I recall a time when it was even cool to follow his college starts, along with Trea Turner at-bats.

Guess it went the same way as Francisco Liriano's...just way too much torque on the elbow to get away throwing that for more than 3-5 seasons in top form.

How did Mazara get hurt?

Are you being serious? The TV actually showed Rodon off in the corner throwing stuff. Clearly him.

A lot of his cells have been attacked by some sort of protein-surrounded RNA creature that we can't comment about.

Yeah. And I like Engel as a backup OF. Just not someone you want to rely on for long periods of time. If he were a 5th OF, sure.

Are you sure you don't mean Keuchal?

Oh I didn’t catch that.

This is derived from the "you lose 85-90% of your body heat from your throat, so somehow conserving that seems like it MIGHT potentially have health benefits" school of thinking.

How did Eloy get hurt?  And what game was it?

I don't think he is being literal here. Just that he's not a guy with a perfect bill of health in his career.

That's how Timmy needed to play that groundball early in the first game that pulled Abreu well off the bag...

Maybe the sox pitchers should throw dugout fits after every bad inning

Got it. Makes sense with his injury history to which he was referring.

Rodon is settling down. Keep hope ....for a few innings.

I wouldn't object.

It would be really nice if we could have one of those big innings right about now
