  • Probably for the best. Getting hammered for 2-3 innings a go isn't going to help him figure out whats wrong. I would guess we see him as a reliever at the end of the season.

I'm guessing they're going to work with him in Schaumburg on how to approach being a reliever etc., and then we see him back up in a week or so in that role.

I, uh, didn't see that coming yet. I'm sure his comments last night didn't exactly engender any sympathy.

We needed a pitcher able to give us multiple innings with the state of the pen right now.  I am kind of surprised we also didn't see a Burdi for Hamilton swap to get another fresher arm into the organization.

????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

He has sucked, but he's a better piece to throw in the bullpen than Flores. I am not a fan of this move.

Its a fresh arm.  Rey will be back eventually.

I missed this. What did he say?

Probably didn’t help any, but the quick hook last night tells me the decision was basically already made.  Only a good outing would have prevented the move.

Along the lines of complaining about being yanked and not understanding why he was.

Probably the 54 pitches through 1.2, friend.

While I'd like to hope Mazara is going to turn it around soon, I hope after a couple more days of him grounding out to 2nd and striking out would warrant a "Nomar Mazara optioned to Schaumburg, Andrew Vaughn called up to play RF because he can" thread.

I am a real big fan of Flores.  I like this move.  I assume Flores will take the start next time around until Rodon is healthy?

I don't think Mazara can be optioned, and i'm also pretty certain Vaughn can't play RF. I do think they'll play Engel more, though.

The last discussion was of Rodon getting a sim start of around 60 pitches.  Reading between the lines, they were getting him ready to start again up here, so I would guess he would take the next start, and not Flores.

I thought the same thing, but I read a pre draft scouting report the other day that specifically stated he could be potentially moved to a corner outfield spot. Said that although he is slow, he is athletic enough to handle it. He used to pitch, so presumably he has the arm for it

Had to do it. Not like Cease is a lock to give you 6+. Rest of pen on fumes.

after his criticism of Rentaria pulling him "too early" I wonder how he'd respond to the suggestion of a bullpen role?

Hopefully he can become what he was his first year with the Sox.

Thank the heavens

Jimmy Cordero specifically should buy Hahn a steak. Dude needs a few days off.

Incredibly lucky over multiple starts, I agree.
