  4. Min 31-21 (6)
  5. NY 29-21 (7)
  6. Hou 25-25 (2)
  7. Cle 27-23 (5)
  8. Tor 26-23 (4)

Tor at Sox; NY at Min...winners to San Diego

One week ago.

If the Indians win and Sox lose tonight, down to the 7-seed. Ha!

Stuff it. This franchise hasn't made the playoffs in 12 years and hasn't been close in 8. This team is loaded with guys who have never made a post-season.  You celebrate.  You celebrate like this

  • I think it’s fun ✌️

  • I'm with you. Its sports. Enjoy.

You know the seeding scenarios for the three central teams?

Three way tie would end up: Indians (2), Sox (3), Twins (7), I believe.  Indians hold tie breakers.

Sox hold tie breakers over Twins.

Perhaps most likely scenario: Sox win 2/3, Twins win 2/3, Indians sweep - I think that results in Sox with 7 seed.

It would. Indians magic number on the Sox is 4. Ours on them is 3.

Welp, all we can hope for is a Sox win tonight and some help from Pittsburgh and Cinci.

7th seed might be our best option

BTW, I'm happy with a last week slump before the playoffs.

Can we expect a Nicky Delmonico call up today for the big series?  You know, he could be a valuable piece for the playoff run.

Magic #'s--

Twins: Sox 2, Indians 1

Indians: Sox 2, Twins 4

White Sox: Twins 3, Indians 3

  1. TB 38-20
  2. Oak 35-22
  3. Min 35-23
  4. Cle 34-24
  5. NY 32-26
  6. Hou 29-29
  7. Sox 34-24
  8. Tor 31-27

Tor at TB; NY at Cle

Sox at Oak; Hou at Min

If the Blue Jays go 2-0 and Yankees go 1-1 or 0-2, the Yankees would be the 8-seed.

I’m thinking of making a Post Traumatic Sox Disorder diagnosis certificate and an accompanying prescription... would anyone like a copy for themselves?

The current pairings are locked in for Tuesday if this happens today:

A’s win twice, Twins, Indians, Yankees also win

White Sox and Blue Jays lose

Edited by flavum

A’s lost game 1. Should have won easily...had scoring opportunities and Mike Minor looked pretty good even though I’m not a fan of his.

  1. TB 39-20
  2. Min 36-23 (2)
  3. Oak 35-24
  4. Sox 35-24
  5. NY 33-26
  6. Hou 29-30
  7. Cle 34-25
  8. Tor 32-27

Sox possibilities:

2-seed: Sox win, Twins lose, A's lose

3-seed: Sox win, Twins lose, A's win

4-seed: Sox win, Twins win or Sox lose, Indians lose

7-seed: Sox lose, Indians win

Blue Jays and Yankees swap 5 and 8 if Blue Jays win and Yankees lose

3 seed vs Houston or (less likely) we somehow get the 4 seed against the Jays are by far the best scenarios.

Thank you for making this so easy to understand.

Man there are so many scenarios going on tomorrow. I am not even sure what we hope for at this point, I don't want to play the Indians or Twins however possible

Will Min and Oak swap if Oak wins and Min loses?

Yes, if they're both division winners with the same record, A's are 2, Twins are 3.

Yes

So if Min Lose, CWS lose, CLE wins, Oak wins we face Oakland I think?

That checks out

For me

1. Win division as 3 seed

2. Win 4 seed and Jays overtake Yanks

3. Win 7 seed vs Oakland

4. Win 7 seed vs Twins

5. Win 2 seed vs Indians

6. Win 4 seed vs Yankees

Insane that we could play any team in the playoffs besides Tampa.

I just don’t want to face Cleveland. Any other scenario I’m fine with.

I think facing a team that hasn't seen our pitching yet is ideal but facing Cole in game 1 would be tough

Who is throwing a lefty in game 1? I want them!

Oakland and Toronto, both of which are still in play for us
