Wow. Nice.  Hahn may actually have something to say today.

And people said nothing was going to happen! I'm surprised but excited to see what happens next.

The wild thing?  No one had this report ahead of the Sox press release.  Chicago media just isn't very good.

My opinion of RR as a manager has come to fruition! RR is a nice guy but not the right manager to lead the team to championships.

Just for those who are catching up late

There will be some celebrating, but what comes next is the question. Is it Super Joe?

I would think the Sox aren't going to bring in a big name, but firing Ricky after making the playoffs I would have put at 10,000 to 1, so all bets are off.

Absolutely the right move but I still feel bad for the guy.  Any confidence he had is likely gone with Cubs and Sox both firing him right before the cusp of being great.

He made alot of money being  shit, I don't feel jack shit except jubilant.

Christmas in October. It truly is a new era on the southside

Agree with this sentiment.  Renteria seems like a nice enough guy...just in over his head as a major league manager on a team that is on the cusp of winning.  Very surprised, but glad they are doing this now.  Don't wait around and target guys you want.

I am really interested on what their manager list looks like.  Alomar?  Would they consider Hinch?  You have to interview some TB coaches I would assume.

Maybe. Waiting 11 days is weird though.

Did you know about Renteria? I 100% took this as a hint something would be announced since you're pretty connected lol

Managed himself right out of a job.

He made this a good place for the youngsters to grow up though.

Has anyone won manager of the year, and been canned in the same season? That's a real possiblity.

who is out there right now that can push the sox to the next level

No opinion on this until they hire a new manager. No cheating scandal guys, please.

Holy shit.....they did it guys!

Hopefully this is good news for spending in the offseason.

Also Do NOT hire Hinch or Cora.

I'll be very surprised if it ISN'T a veteran. If you fire Ricky, that tells me you want a guy that has been there before.

But please....no Ozzie.

You are probably right. When have the Sox given their new manager much leeway with their coaching staff? Looks like now they will.

There's a lot of overpay in MLB, I think it's normal to feel bad for a good person who sucks at their job.  I even felt bad for Boylen, he sucked but it's not because he wanted to be bad.

Also this is a sexy job right now, plenty of guys should be interested.

Jirschele or Sandy is my guess

Holy shit what an offseason!!!

Bingo!

Hopefully he has a role in the organization as I think he has some use.
