The two unearned runs were the result of allowing three hits allowed in the first inning before the error. if he is able to go 5-6 innings, he saves the bullpen for Game 3. Also, for other responses, I'm commenting on offering a four year term, and the likely decline most players in the mid 30s experience. There were no reports of any other team offering anything close to 4 years at $18M-$20M to either Grandal or Keuchel. Perhaps the Sox felt they had to overpay to get anyone here in 2020. More often than not, teams regret the final seasons of a lengthy contract to mid 30s and older players. It will take the full term of the deal and whether the Sox have any postseason success before allowing for a final judgement, good or bad. Adding an extension to Lynn ($70M for 3 pitchers and a catcher) binds the team even further. The reason Lynn was attractive is that the term is only one year, that they are not committed to another lengthy contract to an older player. There should be no rush to extend him or any other veteran at this point.
