Do they have an agreement in place now?

Don't have that answer, but I've been expecting it for about 10 days now. Hopefully this smoke means its final.

Any clues on how many years of FA we are buying out? 1 or 2?  Any idea on contract?

Marshall or Heuer possible too, but my money is Vaughn.

Based on some speculation I’ve seen, I’d wager it’s similar to Eloy’s eight year deal if it gets done.

Pal for President.

I'd be shocked if we got more than 8 years. I would love to know if players like Vaughn think it's better to sign an extension on this CBA than after

Haha, pump the breaks. I thought it was a done deal once already. Save the HJs for when its final.

How about HJ now. BJ after.

Guys, I wanna bathe in the smoke.  Smoke me baby, smoke me.

Pal has insider knowledge. Ray Ray hates people here with inside knowledge. AND his name is Pal? Woof, get ready for Ray Ray to come after you.

No. You'll accept your HJ now and you'll like it.

This post is completely absurd.  Keuchel had a 1.99 ERA and was one of only two good starters on the team last year.  Grandal was basically the player everyone expected and can actually catch despite what all the McStanns say.  I get you hate LaRussa with a passion, but Lance Lynn is a high end pitcher and the Sox wanted him before LaRussa entered the fold.  This idea that we can somehow avoid veterans is pure nonsense, it’s simply a part of doing business.

He bad mouth's Keuchel every chance he gets because Keuchel couldn't back up his leadership blatherings by pitching well enough to win a playoff game. You see that hate in many of his posts . Grandal is a close 2nd.

Lol stop foaming at the mouth ! How could he have any idea about such things ? Nothing is finalized and only a handful of people could know final details .

Keuchel skipped starts at the end of last year and then got shelled in the meaningful game he pitched.

He definitely didn't have his best stuff in that playoff game, and we all wish he could have pitched better, but I don't think I'd say he got "shelled".  He gave up 3 earned runs.  And he was money almost all season long.  The point you are making is terrible.

Abreu grounded out with the bases loaded to end that game, too, despite all the "stans" telling me he was like the "league MVP" or something. Thanks, Jerry!

Beef is saying that he believes the Vaughn extension is done, FWIW.

He gave up five in 3 1/3. The two unearned runs were the result of allowing three hits allowed in the first inning before the error. if he is able to go 5-6 innings, he saves the bullpen for Game 3.

Also, for other responses, I'm commenting on offering a four year term, and the likely decline most players in the mid 30s experience. There were no reports of any other team offering anything close to 4 years at $18M-$20M to either Grandal or Keuchel. Perhaps the Sox felt they had to overpay to get anyone here in 2020. More often than not, teams regret the final seasons of a lengthy contract to mid 30s and older players. It will take the full term of the deal and whether the Sox have any postseason success before allowing for a final judgement, good or bad.

Adding an extension to Lynn ($70M for 3 pitchers and a catcher) binds the team even further. The reason Lynn was attractive is that the term is only one year, that they are not committed to another lengthy contract to an older player. There should be no rush to extend him or any other veteran at this point.
