  • A little info I was told is the Sox believe they will have Colas in 2022 and the league believes that too.

  • Here's what I know on Colas: He'll have a workout in January. There are some rumors that his team is desperate and they might take a shitty deal for this period but most people don't believe it. Nobod

He is just repeating what a member of the White Sox is saying, along with a host of other reports.

It’s a joke

What has this Colas guy ever broken?

If this came from Luis Robert's Medianoche account it would hold more credibility.

Is it possible that the Sox are willing to go into the penalty box in order to get them both now?

And if so, then.......could they possibly be in for Pino, Jorge or both?

I don't really know the rules, but this feels blatantly against them lol

Are you even allowed to go over?

I don't think that exists anymore. I believe Robert was the last player signed under those rules.

no

Then....is it possible that he just wants to play and sign for whatever the Sox have left?

I'd say highly unlikely, but not impossible. I have no clue what the Sox actually have left in their pool, but it can't be a whole lot.

Negative

Definitely possible but unlikely. From the sound of it, he can agree to a deal with the Sox for the 2022 period and spend this year playing/practicing at one of their facilities.

Sox have maybe $100K left, if that. It’s a 2022 signing.

The NCAA is furious that they can't fine the Sox.

Correct. It's why the board was so ecstatic that the Sox actually went for the last big prospect (and Cards fans were so dejected).

That feels big, even thought it actually means nothing.

This is what Jimmy has been alluding to.

There is no "penalty box" anymore.  It is a hard cap, plus no trades for space for the next two years.

That's already been answered, thanks. I forgot about that.

How much do they have left after the Cespedes signing?

Edited by Jack Parkman

The White Sox have $5,348,100 in their bonus pool.

They are signing:

Cespedes for $2 million (maybe more)

Vera for $1.5 million

Victor Quezada $525K

Manuel Guarimon $475K

Dario Barrero $350K

Adrian Gil $250K

Gabriel Rodriguez $100K

Antonio Jimenez $90K

That puts them at $5,290,00. My guess is Cespedes is getting the rest of that.

There's about 1.8m tied up in everyone except the big two. If they really want Colas to get real minor league experience next year so he could potentially be ready to contribute in RF in 2022, maybe they could just give him that money to expedite his path to Chicago, rather than forcing us into another year of Eaton or some other scrub in RF.

Ofcourse the issue would be damaging relationships with agents and handlers for those other players who someday may have much higher profile clients we might want.
