Likely the best lineup they can run out there w/o Eloy, which of course means we will probably never see it.

Agreed.  Put Moncada back at 2

I'd bat Mercedes 4th, as regardless of platoon issues, he's clearly our best power guy right now, even against righties. Moncada should be back at 2 I agree. Grandal 5. Robert 6. Eaton 7. Vaughn 8 and Madrigal 9.

Lineup should be:

Anderson SS

Eaton RF

Yermin DH

Abreu 1B

Grandal C

Moncada 3B

Robert CF

Vaughn LF

Mendick 2B

Danny Mendick is a better baseball player than Nick Madrigal is.  Once you're in the Majors, draft position doesn't matter anymore.

For the heck of it, with Anderson back tomorrow, what is the lineup you would use going forward?

Anderson / Moncada / Abreu / Mercedes / Grandal / Eaton / Robert / Vaughn / Madrigal

That’s why he’s never made a major league roster as a starter? He’s really not. Madrigal played less 60  games and sure as hell has a higher ceiling than mendick. Real meatball takes on madrigal this season.

WTF is Tony doing? They're not paying Grandal $73M to ride pine.

Let me know when mendick hits .340 for a season.

Let me know the next time 34 games is a full season.

Lots of players hit .340 for 34 games. Stop acting like it's some kind of accomplishment. It was a hot streak, nothing more.

The reason Madrigal is just handed the starting 2B instead of having to "battle" Danny Mendick for it in ST, is the same reason Yermin sat in AAA while the Sox ran AJ Reed out there, and also the same reason the Sox ran Nomore Mazzara out there over Adam Engel: draft position-based "pedigree."

IMO, Danny Mendick is a more versatile defender with a better arm who is overall a smarter player, with substantially more power than Madrigal.  Madrigal has contact on him, that's really it.  If you just looked at both of these players for the first time knowing nothing about either of them beforehand, you would be shocked to learn both of these two things: 1) one of these players was drafted 652nd overall; and 2) one of these players was drafted 4th overall.

Let me know when actual baseball people think mendick is better... I’ll wait find one other than you dudes. Oh wait that’s why he will never make an opening day roster.

I’m glad that you know more than people who actually work in baseball.

Lemme know when Madrigal becomes a guy who fucks.

LOL sometimes I feel like I do, and that's very sad.  But that's what happens sometimes when your owner is jr.

Baseball people make mistakes constantly. And not all "baseball people" love Madrigal, he has plenty of detractors in the scouting community. Not everyone is enamored with a player who's only real plus tool is single hitting.

Not everyone is negative all the time about everything, every player and the world.

I have to admit, Mendick will probably never get 3000 hits

Brave Prediction: Nick Madrigal PLUS Danny Mendick won't get 3,000 Hits.

The Sox have earned the skepticism from their fanbase.

Trust in the front office and scouting is earned. They have not earned our trust.

Blind optimism is just as annoying, if not more so, as eternal pessimism.
