Katz always seems to come out AFTER a pitching meltdown. I would rather see him be more proactive and come out after the defensive lapse. Let Dylan get his bearings and settle down the nerves.

Cease now going to have more pitches than De Jong through 3 IP.

I once heard someone say that almost every scout that attended a Javy Vazquez start would say the same kinda thing....boy he's got good stuff...great stuff...terrific stuff...hey when did they score 6 runs off him??

So, next year's guaranteed rotation is Giolito and Keuchel, then an undependable Kopech, and we have two free agents after the year with Rodon and Lynn.

 

I don't see them moving Cease.

Exactly how I feel about Cease.   The stuff is out of this world, yet he can't avoid that meltdown inning.

Cease is unreliable, I'd like them to move him for someone more reliable.

Bad error led to 2 runs, otherwise Cease has been fine. So typical game thread misery.

Thank you. I checked the score after reading the thread. Was surprised it was actually a tie game based off the reactions here.

ERA+ of 110 in 2020, ERA+ of 105 coming into today in 2021. Someone who's young, affordable and above league average the last two years, I guess I don't see the impetus for us to move him at all.

Man Cease can hit, but he's got the same BABIP luck as the rest of the team.

You nailed it - the two of them together sound like 2 people just playing with house money and having a blast. Guys that really appreciate how lucky and blessed they are to do what they do and they genuinely seem to just have dynamic chemistry.
