Yeah, always being the very first game of the day...what would it take to actually change that?

A marathon

Imagine being a manager and knowing you have 5 fresh relievers and 1 who hasn't been successful on back to back and pitched yesterday and say to yourself, let's go get the former in the biggest moment

We can still win this series. We just have to score more runs than Houston and you can take that to the bank

  • Let’s GO! Lots of pressure on Houston. They need to win one of the next three if they want to force a game 5.

The Sox have great pitching and a deep lineup. The defense is an issue, but pretending like this team only made the playoffs because of being in the ALC is ignorant of every advanced metric

If we had first half Lynn and the no hitter throwing version of Rodon...

yep, he has done his job. you could say the fielders and his catcher are the reason for both runs.

So the 2 walks by him in the inning they scored their runs had nothing to do with it?

If Yoan doesn't slip they probably have no runs right now.

This offseason Sox just have to go full 2019 Twins and try to have 30 homer potential at every position

And that's exactly the problem. This team is built on the almighty homer and throwing through a brick wall.

The Sox need a more robust, multi-dimensional offense.

Hahn has the same problem as Pace: neither has a clue how to get that done.

And even if Hahn knew how,  his ownership wouldn't pay for it.

Keep the base thirsty says P.T. Reinsdorf.

At least Giolito is settling in...the idea of some of the Sox relievers being trustworthy with a one run game in this environment, not feeling quite so confident.

Man Giolito is really trying to keep the team in it but I'm worried about what happens when he runs out of gas.

If we had Cy Rodon in game 1, we're up 1-0 with a 2-1 deficit in the 4th in game 2 on the road right now.  Totally different circumstances.

Our lineup is a front-runners lineup.  We need a lead or at least some runs on the board for our offense to have their confidence.  We don't have many of those LeMahieu, Gardner types of players.  TA is one but we don't have many.  We really fail to put together tough ABs consistently.  It's funny BTW to watch a rookie in Sheets come up there and put together better ABs than the vets.  Same was true with Yermin.

That hurts, at best Altuve leads off the 5th.

Madrigal provided that

Absolutely awful walk right there

We have no choice but to use the big relievers, so no reason to reason about it.  But let’s just hope we can have a lead by then.

Lucas going way too deep in counts.

Hes keeping us in it, we have scored 1 run off their starters in 10 2/3 innings.

We are so frustrating

That's fine, but he did.  Giolito has been OK but people are kidding themselves if the don't think the walks hurt.

Can’t wait to get Kimbrel in this game

Even if the pen stops the Asstros at 2 runs, we still need to score another 2 runs to win.  Our pitchers can't do anything to help as far as that goes.

Too many walks

Can’t tell—how does strike zone look?

Throw fuckkng strikes

might be running out of gas

Cmon gotta get the 3rd out

Showalter making some good pts in this broadcast, surprised given his curmudgeon ways in the dugout.

And Lucas, gotta come at Maldonado, lets go

Of course he is, but sorry when you have multiple walks in an inning your asking for trouble.
