Offseason Thread

I think it could easily be competitive, and that history tells us over and over that projecting last year's results forward is a dangerous proposition.  Why would the Twins go from a division champ offensive juggernaut to one of the worst teams in baseball in one season?  Why would the Giants bust out and win the NL West?  Who the hell knows what happens next year.  The Twins could well make a few tweaks and return to form.  Detroit improved rapidly this season and will spend in the offseason.  The Royals are on the way up and could accelerate.  Cleveland's rotation could be scary, as somebody mentioned above.  I'd still take our divisional situation over most others but baseball is gonna baseball on us in unforeseen ways--that much I know.

This might be an unpopular opinion but I think that if Cleveland stayed relatively healthy the Sox miss the playoffs.

Just terrible takes in this thread. Sox won 93 games despite 4 major injuries that cost us a few games. They got outpitched, outhit, and outdefended by the class of the AL and somehow they’re garbage?

  • Balta I know this is your time to shine when you get to tell everyone that they are and were wrong to believe in this team and every move you would have made would have been right and all moves actual

I'm sure you do.

But that being said, the Sox were pretty injured themselves.

BTW I also think the Sox should quietly shop Eloy this winter.

Not a surprise but Castellanos opted out.

Naw, a 13 game difference in the standings is just too much of a difference to make up. The White Sox also pounded Cleveland in Chicago especially, and even faced off against Bieber and Plesac a couple times. A 5 game lead or so and I could believe that.

This isn't an unpopular opinion, it's flat out idiotic and laughably absurd.

Get me what you are smoking.

This might be an unpopular opinion, but if Eloy and Robert had stayed hurt we would have won the World Series.  We played better with them out, and it worked for Atlanta.

This is probably your worst post on this site.

No, for all the previously stated reasons. Also, even if Cleveland won the division, we would have been a wild card team.

Well I see this post season is off to an LSD manic fit of a start.

Unpopular opinion, but if Yermin played second base we would have won some games.

we need to get this guy stateside with all that swagger

Did you just put Tim Anderson at catcher in reverse

I didn't say they'd win the games with Yermin playing second. Just they would win some games.

I mean, he would have the arm to gun down base stealers.

Oh sure, it's the whole fielding part I would be like "hmmmm this is a bit worrisome"

Do we get to stay healthy as well?
