Offseason Part 2 - Lets the Rumors & Action Begin

Hahn's comment "“We’re prepared to go forward with the roster we have right now." Just annoys me. Why even say that? The roster as it stands now is a downgrade from last year. Minus Rodon and Madrigal I'd say the downgrade is rather significant. Don't try and sell this garbage on us.

It’s part of negotiating to gain leverage.

  • He’s still great on tv.  He’s absolutely brutal on Twitter.  He’s a yes man and he’s a condescending jackass on social media.

  • At least they didn't get roped along all off-season only to get Manny Machado's friends and relatives. It could be a lot worse.

  • So I just got a text from a buddy of mine who is very connected (to MLB not necessarily Sox). Said Sox are on fire right now and close on a couple sizeable moves.

He spent more time taking about improving the roster and maximizing their chances of winning the World Series in 2022.  That quote is annoying, but is somewhat taken out of context and nothing to actually worry about.

Yeah, I would be more upset hearing this after all the good free agents have signed with teams and we end up with platoon type players at 2B and RF and a cheap 6th starter.

Shhh, quit giving me hope.

I hope you guys realize that the hyperbolic negativity is mostly schtick.

Hahn’s annoying every time he speaks but his quotes about potential  transactions mean absolutely nothing.

What boss is going out and saying these guys suck, and we need better players?

Yeah... when hahn calls an agent about a player now they'll be like..., wohhhhhhh, I didn't see this coming. I thought Rick was out and happy with his team, I better lower the price for him because he's not interested.

I'm now convinced that this will be what  Hahn ends up doing:

Tepera 2/$10MM

Jorge Soler 3/$45MM

Trade Vaughn and Sheets for Bassitt

Roll with a Leury/Mendick platoon at 2B.

Book it.

My boss says this about me every day.

I don’t see what the Mets have on their major league roster that would interest the Reds.

If we trade Vaughn for a 33 year old pitcher with 1 year left on his deal we as a fan base should riot

The rumors before the lockout were that they wanted to ship the extra parts (think Jeff McNeil, JD Davis, Dom Smith) for pitching.

I still think the Mets line up well with the Brewers in a deal considering they could use some offense.

Look, it's either that, or RH addresses the desperate shortage at RHH DH, and gives Castellanos 5/$105MM.

That would never happen in a million years.

No, no: his salary is less than Rodon's, so I've been convinced that this is the right move.

Yeah, I don’t see the Reds having interest in any of those three guys, let alone for one of their big three starters.  Which pitcher on the Brewers are you thinking?

Houser or Lauer probably.

You do realize that some of us think that Hahn is a schmuck, right?

He's the same idiot that traded Tatis and a kings ransom for a season of Jeff Samardzija.

Oh, that reminds me:

Kimbrel stays put. After all, he was "the best reliever on the market," and you can't have enough depth .

ewww. That would be a gross off-season.

I don’t know what that means and how it relates to Hahn making a trade that would never happen.

1 hour ago, Two-Gun Pete said:

Yeah, no one wants to pay $16MM for a guy who sucks.

Or, at least no one who bothered to do their homework on him.

Nah, they'll trade him and clear his full salary. They won't get anything good back but it will happen.
