This offense struggles so much with consistency and we want to trade the one guy who is consistent every year...

  • Oh thank god, the turning point thread has arrived.

Did the thread just take longer than usual?  Let's hope so.

worked like a charm

Maybe try with Grandal…?  Seems he also chews tobacco.

I'd be fine with Jose A taking a walk every time up the way they pitch him. If they do come into him, then he can bash. When Jose is going bad, he's a ground out waiting to happen or weak pop.

Just take the walk unless they are gonna come in with a meaty fastball or curve. He has no chance on sliders that bite.

And Ron calling Jose cooked, only for Jose to go on a tear.

Jose gets a ton of respect from the opposing announcers.

Trade him at deadline

Please put Menechino out to pasture.

Bumped...

Sometimes the magic takes a little longer.

Like I said before, Ron doesn't understand his superpower.  He could solve this losing problem by creating the right thread

So Abreu is on pace to another 25+ HR and 90 RBI season.

No one else on this glorified core will come even close to that.

Since the day this thread was posted Abreu is

327/.443./574/1.017

6 homers, 19 walks, and only 17 Ks

Yet we're still stuck with the logical conclusion moving on is better than forcing Vaughn into the outfield a third year. Trading Andrew to free up 1B for a final season seems even more illogical.

But then you have what, Pollock and Conforto as your corners next year, lol?

That is the beauty of it. Trading Abreu at the deadline if he wasn't hitting would get the Sox little value back. However, if Abreu is on fire and tearing it at the trade deadline like is is now, then the Sox should be able to get a quality return of prospects back from some contending team who needs that final piece to win the it all. Hopefully that would be in pitching prospects who can make it up in the next year or two and contribute in a huge way!

We have Vaughn to play first base. They might as well put him there since he was the 2019 #3 overall pick and proving he could be an longtime all star. It makes zero sense to keep playing Vaughn out of position.

We also know Abreu is going to be 35 yrs old and how many more productive years do we get from him...and not to mention he is a FA after the season.

Get a huge haul now and let's thank Jose for all your great years.

Unless Jose Abreu asks to leave, Jose Abreu is NOT getting traded.

Oh, my bad, I didn't know Jose was the GM.

It is absolutely his decision if he wants to stay or not.
