I would agree. If there were two outs and you had to have a hit to get runs home I'd do it, but with zero outs there are other ways to score.

The Twins could have had both Graterol and Duran. They're really good at developing failed starters into dominant power relievers. 

Pierzynski saying he would be open to managing in the right situation...doesn't seem like he wants to put a lot of time in the minors though.

 

Two keys:

Open/honest communication.

Put players in the best position to succeed.

Characteristics of his best former managers.
