3.5 back of the Twins and a game back of the Indians. The supposed easiest schedule in baseball left and 18 games left against those two collectively.

Buy. Buy. Buy.

Just as important:

1.) Get healthy

2.) Lynn turns the corner

3.) Bullpen continues having defined roles… with Lopez / Graveman / Hendricks at the end of it.

Playing Eloy in an even tougher defensive position, one that he's never played in the major leagues, doesn't strike me as a particularly good idea.

  • #BadTakesWithTray

  • Possible Targets Andrew Benintendi - .335/.401/.432 vs. RHP. Can play LF fairly well, but no RF experience. Also not a whole lot of power with an ISO of .084.  Brandon Drury - .261/.333/.469

Trading Sheets plus any pitcher not named Vera for Josh Bell to DH and then playing Vaughn in LF with Jimenez/Engel in RF depending on matchups.

Desperately trying to unload Pollock and cash to an NL West team...

Locking up Lynn until his weight is back down below 250 pounds...shaving off his Stonewall Jackson beard might help.  Or Just for Men.

The reality is not counting on Jimenez for anything is a much more realistic plan.

And he has over 100 games of experience in RF in the minors.

Actually his arm isn't much worse than Pollock's, comparable.

Probably covers about the same amount of ground once he gets a full head of steam.

A lefty hitting left fielder is a must, I want Robert in RF and Engel in CF for the second half.

Then Happ is it of the big names because no Benintendi and Orioles/M's not selling anymore.

Has to be a Naquin under the radar type.

Hope Hahn acquires another starting pitcher. A lefty starter if possible.

D.Peralta

Pederson

Kole Calhoun

Grossman

Inciarte (only 32, seems 42)

Ben Gamel

Guillermo Heredia

Need a LH reliever more desperately...with Bummer out indefinitely.

So we essentially just bench Eloy?

Best path forward is hoping Eloy & Vaughn can cover LF & DH.  At this point, Pollock should be additional depth in the event Eloy can’t stay healthy.  And then go out and a get a RF who hits LH and can be at least average defensively.

He'll inevitably be hurt again

The Yankees are only trading Gallo if they obtain an actual Right Fielder replacement from somewhere else beforehand. Also, they would have zero interest in Pollock, just like 28 other MLB teams.

Would shop for the two top targets below. Ramon is RH, but has solid career numbers vs. RHP (.769 OPS) and is a solid starter. Naquin is LH and a good platoon option.

Likely available RFers (Teams are out of it, looking to sell):

Best targets: Ramon Laureano (Oakland); Tyler Naquin (Reds).

Can Field but Can't Hit: Avisail Garcia (Marlins); Robbie Grossman (Detroit); Jackie Bradley Jr. (Boston).

Can Hit, Can't Field, Old: Charlie Blackmon (Rockies).

Shitty Options: Jason Heyward (Cubs); Whit Merrifield (Royals); Kole Calhoun (Texas); Wil Myers (Caufield).

Possible Targets

Andrew Benintendi - .335/.401/.432 vs. RHP. Can play LF fairly well, but no RF experience. Also not a whole lot of power with an ISO of .084.

Brandon Drury - .261/.333/.469 vs. RHP. Not a LHH, but has hit righties alright this year. Fluky looking numbers compared to his career norms and not a real good defender at 2B or in the OF.

Ketel Marte - .257/.364/.437 vs. RHP. This is a bit of a pipe dream. He just signed a very fair long term extension so I doubt he'd even be available unless you overwhelm Arizona with an offer.

Bryan Reynolds - .251/.342/.498 vs. RHP. Also a pipedream since we probably don't have the prospects to acquire him. Other teams with more prospects are interested.

Tyler Naquin - .258/.333/.470 vs. RHP. Probably one of the more realistic targets as he won't require much to acquire. You can probably platoon him with Engel and get decent production in RF.

Ian Happ - .252/.352/.421 vs. RHP. I honestly thought he had better numbers vs. RHP, but he's actually killed lefties this year. His splits were the exact opposite last year. He's got one more year of arbitration after this one, so he might require a bit more to acquire.

David Peralta - .253/.310/.471 vs. RHP. Nothing to really write home about, but it seems like this guy has been brought up on the Sox' radar for years.

Josh Bell - .318/.397/.502 vs. RHP. Easily the best hitter of the bunch, but is another 1B/DH type. He has played RF before, just not all that well. It'd be like putting Sheets out there, but with a way better bat and a switch hitter. Definite upgrade, but not without its downsides.

Josh Rojas - .276/.333/.436 vs. RHP. Can play a lot of positions, is also not arb eligible until 2024, so he's very cheap. Not sure how willing the Diamondbacks are to trade him.

Kole Calhoun - .222/.274/.389 vs. RHP. He kinda sucks and has reverse splits this year somehow.

Joey Gallo - .182/.309/.384 vs. RHP. He's pretty much Gavin Sheets vs. RHP this year, so it's not great. But if you can take him out of NYC, maybe he plays better?

Ramon Laureano - .213/.279/.366 vs. RHP. Great defender, mashes lefties, but sucks vs. RHP. Doesn't exactly fit what we need.

Myers is hurt. Welcome to Chicago. Mazara has replaced him but they're also looking for another OF bat down the stretch.

Merrifield is anti-vax...unless he's on a contender and has to play meaningful games. Toast.

Those options pretty much suck.  Laureano would be the choice there with Blackmon too expensive.

Sox need a few starters and a LH reliever more than they need a LH hitter. IMO.

Ian Happ would be my choice, but it all depends on who the Cubs will want in return.

we aint got much to offer in a trade..

going to be hard

Call me crazy, but I don’t really care what side of the plate they hit from. Just avoid a guy with extreme splits, but we need professional hitters at 2B and RF. Can’t be that picky

You just can't count on him.

Two or three stud  starting pitchers can help to carry a team in the playoffs. We have one - Cease.

Would you give up Crochet and Burger for him?

Any chance the Sox can pry Jazz Chisholm away from Miami?
