On MLB pipeline they have Gonzalez as a 40 runner.

That’s because every player on mlb pipeline is a 55 overall and not too hot or cold. It’s the great hedge site.

He has zero chance to play SS and he swings the bat like he's underwater.

  • I don't quite understand how one can have a 30 grade run tool and play shortstop. Though I'm just a filthy casual draft fan.

  • It took like 15 minutes of clicking, but I finally got us there.

So if Gonzalez makes the bigs, does he play 3B? 2B?

Hahn drafting a college SS to fill that 2B hole??

Another unathletic player, same ol s%*#

He’s not unathletic, he’s just not fast.

I'd rather have a SS with good instinct over speed.

With shifts gone need more range now though

Sox need to draft Wolkow now.  That's a must get imo.

I enjoy Colt Emerson.

Leave it for the White Sox to pick the guy whose game is more suited for the steroids era than the one based on speed and athleticism, even at corner positions now.

He belongs in a Louis L'Amour Western novel...or gun shop.

Has to be from TCU.

This makes no sense

No you wouldn't.  A SS needs great feet to get in position to field the ball.

That's what I mean by instinct.  Anderson is the epitome of speed meaning nothing.  Not sure I like the pick but he's not a Lance Broadway pick.

Houck sure has dropped huh. Bonus demands?

I know absolutely nothing about him other than I hate the look of his swing. On aesthetics alone this is a failed pick.

He’s not “not fast” he’s pretty damn slow to be a 30-40 grade runner.

I feel like Gonzalez is about to succeed just to spite this thread, Burger style.

I'm going to be smart enough to not post anything in this thread that can be used against me in five years

Tigers and Twins putting Sox in their rearview windows...

I heard a great story about him.  He really wanted to go to a certain school so he contacted the coach and asked if he'd come out and see him play.  The coach did and told him he was going to pass because he wasn't good enough to play there. So Emerson went home and built a batting cage in his garage and then bought a fathead of the coach and hung it in back of the cage so he could hit line drives off his face all day.   That's the kind of dawg I can respect.

Burger proved me right lol. But it would definitely be great if Gonzalez spited me on this ?

Nothing?  He's an all star SS.  Name me one guy who thinks himself in front of the ball?

He's a has-been past all star SS.

FIFY

Okay. I've made it through all the stages of White Sox draft pick grief.

I'm fine with the selection I guess. It's not particularly sexy or exciting but could be fine value at 15. Glad it wasn't Waldrep or Yohandy. Rooting for the kid. Let's get it.

Sure it does.

We won't even have a premium athlete at SS.

Teams like the Reds with McClain (de la Cruz) and Padres (Bogaerts and Kim vs. Tatis in RF) are so stacked they can play dominant athletes on the corners.

Whereas the White Sox roster is filled with DHs and players with below average speed across the board with the singular exception of Luis Robert (and maybe Colas if he can hit well enough to hold down a position.)

The last two picks give me hope at least, as their performances have been fantastic this year.

And lets be real, our major concern with all of this is (gestures broadly) the White Sox organization

Why not Morales?  He gonna be a steal and probably land in NY at this rate

So Shirley picked the last three years and now after they've had success Hahn is going to push his way back in.

Hahn should be in the unemployment line not making draft picks. This  organization is a joke.
