White Sox 6 No Hit IP for Kopech Winner !

Featured Replies

Great job by Kopech ! Lopez, Graveman, Hendriks finish off the 2-0 Shutout !

Pitching should keep this team in it.

But damn this offense is horrid.

Nice play by Big Energy to end the game....does Sosa get an assist there?

Can we please remember how to hit a baseball? Please??

confused why he was taken out at 85 pitches after he had pitched 3 innings the game before....

it was a win but im hardly excited about it.

And another injury! Yippie! Who gets hurt tomorrow,? I'm going to bet Eloy hurts himself running to first. Not that I want that to happen of course, but if I were a betting man...

Was at the game. Kopech, of course, was great. Crowd was energetic. Offense is completely broken. There isn't one hitter on that team that is doing anything. Moncada hit the deepest drive, and that barely made it to the warning track. Two days in a row the Sox have a starting pitcher dominate, and neither gets the win. Don't expect the offense to turn things around. It just isn't happening.

Yay, 2 runs on a single and Frank & Tony get to keep their jobs.

I don’t know man. To take away from the game possible things like No hitters, you’re really beginning to diminish it

Nice win. Great win. But it's sad that the no hitter is the latest fun thing to become extinct in baseball. The Hall of Fame is gonna be mighty quiet in the future.

I firmly believe we're headed to two innings max for starters in the near future. 2-2-2-2 and the closer.

Yes, the Sox won, but because the offense sucked, they had to burn their three best relievers backing up Kopech's 6 no-hit innings instead of being available to back up Gio tonight.

Good to see him stiking out guys again.

One good thing to come out of this shit season is the way they've handled Kopech's workload.

Any idea what the attendance was, not shown in any box scores.

TLR is such an asshat for pulling Kopech.

This is what innings management looks like.

It looked like 35,000. The concourses were packed. Even the upper deck looked crowded. There was a concert after that drew some, I guess, but I saw many fans leaving after the game. The crowd made some noise when Kopech got Tiger hitters to two strikes. Not much noise when the offense was up. Two hard hit balls all night.

One more inning wouldn't have mattered. No way he coulda gone 9 and kept it under 100 pitches. The sport is to blame on this one not elderly TLR.

Starters will still be starters. Their is a reason elite/good/average/below average pitchers are starters. Are you going to take cease out in the 3rd inning? Degrom? And the whole host of others? Starters are consistent and thrive on that. The volatility of pitchers only going 2 innings nixes that alone. Their will always be starting pitchers who's goal is to be good enough to go 9.

Yes you could take Cease out in the third inning in the future. Cause he goes all out, strikes out five of six. No runs. Then you go on to the next 2 inning guy. You set the rotation and Cease can come back in a day or two ,not five. It'll happen IMO. Baseball is in trouble. Analytics will figure it out regarding the use of openers, etc.

I know no one wants to believe it can happen, but if the Sox do back into the playoffs,  will Kopech still be able to pitch or will he get Strasburghed?

I know from following this board, a lot of hay has been made about how much resources have been put into the pen, but when your 2 best pitchers are Cease, who struggles to get past 6 innings, and Kopech who is on an innings limit, a strong, deep bullpen is a must have.

Hahn didn’t help the season by failing to upgrade the offense in the trade deadline.  It’s almost criminal wasting the great pitching with the mediocre offense.
