Lambert has been good lately but sticking him into a tie game with Lopez and Graveman both available is risky.

It is insane.  Two games ago Lambert came in and he got hit hard.  This is a very high leverage situation not suitable for a rookie. TLR giveth and then taketh away.

Just to give context to Colas' tear right now, his home run rate in Birmingham is 8.9 AB/HR.

Here's the top 20 all time:

Rank Player (age that year) AB per HR Year PA Bats
1. Barry Bonds (36) 6.52 2001 664 L
2. Mark McGwire (34) 7.27 1998 681 R
3. Josh Gibson+ (25) 7.80 1937 183 R
4. Mark McGwire (35) 8.02 1999 661 R
5. Mark McGwire (32) 8.13 1996 548 R
6. Barry Bonds (39) 8.29 2004 617 L
7. Babe Ruth+ (25) 8.48 1920 617 L
8. Barry Bonds (38) 8.67 2003 550 L
9. Barry Bonds (37) 8.76 2002 612 L
10. Babe Ruth+ (32) 9.00 1927 691 L
11. Sammy Sosa (32) 9.02 2001 711 R
12. Aaron Judge (30) 9.13 2022 496 R
13. Babe Ruth+ (26) 9.15 1921 693 L
14. Jim Thome+ (31) 9.23 2002 613 L
15. Josh Gibson+ (27) 9.27 1939 123 R
16. Mark McGwire (33) 9.31 1997 657 R
17. Mickey Mantle+ (29) 9.52 1961 646 B
18. Hank Greenberg+ (27) 9.59 1938 681 R
19. Roger Maris (26) 9.67 1961 698 L
20. Luke Voit (29) 9.68 2020 234

He's doing all that while sporting a .353/.439./920 line with a 9.2% walk rate and 23.5% strikeout rate. It's not like he's only hitting home runs. He's just fucking raking.

We could use that from a left handed centerfielder right about now, even if there's growing pains.
