Not pointed toward you but I can't believe the Sox best player is overlooked so badly.

We somehow have to solve our horrendous defense and roster construction.  This helps both. Eloy to DH, Vaughn to 1B.  Get an actual LH RF, Pollack stays in LF.  Sheets goes off the roster somehow.  Either to the minors or a trade for an aging RP

Bruce Levine is the TLR of journalism, out of touch and barely cognitive.

  • You haven’t heard it because that is ridiculous

  • Moncada strikes me as someone who would be dumped onto the Dodgers and turn into perennial monster.

What has AJ Pollock done to convince someone he belongs as a starting OF other than "not being as bad with the glove as Vaughn"?

Going into next season with Pollock as anything more than a platoon option vs LHP and 4th OF/depth player vs RHP would be insanity. But the White Sox don't do platoons, or pay someone ~10M not to play every day, so that'll likely be what ends up happening.

Nothing. But you probably open the year with Pollock and his contract (unless moved for a similar contract; the Kimbrel trade just keeps on giving) starting in LF and then moving into a backup role when Colas is up. In the scenario where we have also added another left-handed OF bat that is.

The DH issue should be solved with Eloy sliding there full time.

[Narrator] Eloy returned to Left Field in 2023, only to be injured yet again.

Can the Sox trade Pollock for a bad contract with 2 years left on it and then keep doing that every off season?  Let's keep the residuals of the Kimbrel trade until at least 2030.  It would make for a great proximate cause argument down the line.

Lol just keep spending around the similar amount year after year instead of paying the $2 mill buyout.

I'm not for getting rid of Sheets, he has played a decent right field lately, maybe somehow trade Pollock and slot Sheets in left field, he's younger and less costly than Pollock.

No, no more putting guys in the outfield who can't play the outfield. This team needs to acquire two guys who can hit right handed pitching well and play corner outfield spots well. No more of Vaughn, Eloy or Sheets in the OF.

I'd trade it for Bobby Bonilla's remaining contract ($1.19M per year each July 1 through 2035). No brainer considering inflation / time value of money.

And thanks again Hawk Harrelson for trading Bobby Bonilla for Jose DeLeon.

He should have been traded when  that window was being talked about. The White Sox were too sentimental. At some point this rebuild stopped cold , and they decided it was  time to take  receipts. Clearly too early.

This.  Have to assume Colas is one of those guys.  Just have to hope Nimmo is the other.  Just offer him 4/$80M and get it over with.

A Colas/Pollock platoon would actually be pretty solid.  Pollock will still get a ton of PT as the 4th OF.

AJ Pollock is going be on this roster next season.  He should be nothing more than the 4th OF, and can play LF until Colas arrives in May.  Thereafter, he's a legit a perfect platoon for him.  Pollock's OPS against LHP is just under 1.000 this year.  He absolutey rakes LHP.

Yeah, none of these guys are even a lock to stay on the field anyway for a full 162. Robert will end up on the IL at some point, Eloy I’m sure will at least have a minor injury, even if full time DHing. Plenty of at bats for a guy like Pollock to go around.

FWIW, since Tony left, AJ is .268/.312/.479/.791 with the bat.  No idea how to get a split on his defensive numbers.

Sheets has an OPS of .708 this year PLUS he's a horrible defender.  No legit contender would have him anywhere but as a reserve in the minors

Sheets’ name shouldn’t even be mentioned when talking about constructing next year’s roster. Dude was plan A as part of the OF plan for this year and that failed. Can’t do it again this year. Can’t have Sheets, Vaughn or even Eloy out there on a regular basis. AAA depth for an injury to a DH/1B, roster filler until Colas is ready at best.

I was thinking Sheets "seems" to me like a guy who wants to make it as a regular. Have you seen how he's gone with the pitch a few times of late and drilled singles to left? Is he one of those guys figuring it out? If these players would figure out trying to pull everything does not work out in the long run they'd be better off. I guess with the shift being phased out via rulebook that will free everybody to pull everything. Not sure that's good hitting strategy for the modern player. .241 is right around the league average BA. 13 HR, 48 RBI and and 25 walks obviously blows.

Should the sox really give up on this second round draft pick? Remember MLB isn't what it used to be. There are a ton of players with Gavin Sheets-like production.

Sheets has considerably more value than to trade him for "an aging RP" IMO.

Definintely a weird change in enthusiasm for being a White Sox for life he were to continue playing.

I seem to recall that Abreu made a similar comment at the beginning of this season.
