Interesting about Mendick. Wonder if that signals a second baseman will be on their way to the southside. ?

Gotta think Bellinger would be a target

A little surprised on Mendick, but called this as a possibility right when he got hurt. Shame for Danny.

His name is probably Leury Garcia.

I thought so too at first then realized getting away from this s%*# org is probably in his long term benefit.

Apparently Ruiz gets a $1 million guaranteed deal next year.

Not too shocking if he’s going to miss a chunk of the season. They could re-sign him to a minor league deal.

They have sort of replaced Mendick and Harrison with Sosa and Romy.

This was also my thought, if he’s not going to be 100% to start the year then you don’t want him on a guaranteed deal where you only can do a rehab stint with him.

Gotta grab all the bullpen arms

Can anyone explain why they tendered Ruiz?

Bueller? Bueller? Anyone?

I probably would have too. He will only get like $1 million and they don’t have bullpen depth that is even as good as him.

Ruiz at that salary and as the ~7th or 8th best reliever in the pen is fine, but I think you'd get more use from that spot going with a slightly worse pitcher who has options remaining to maintain roster flexibility. Tendering Ruiz puts the Sox in a position where almost no one in the pen can be optioned during the season.

They can cut him n spring trading and pay a fraction of the contract, The Sox love him. No way they would have non tendered him at that figure

Right. You’re talking about a $280k gap between league minimum and 1M.

Not with the new CBA

That’s a bargain for him too. He’s out of options though and the bullpen is full.

Bummer has an option left but that'll never happen. Lambert is the only guy, in a pen right now that looks full, that has options remaining.

If he goes through with the hearing it’s the same as it ever was.

Boy, the Adam Engel experiment may FINALLY come to a close. The organization has been stuck on him for too long, with him never able to prove he can stay healthy.

He's probably going to miss around the 1st half of the season, or they probably do bring him back.

For a million dollars?  I knows people don't like him, but finding enough relievers to fill a pen is tough

Eh, a -0.1 WAR pitcher last year might be hard for the white Sox to replace, but that’s still not a bargain.
