To be honest I'm not saying those are acceptable marks at all but I expected infinitely worse by your description.

I felt the same.  Not defending this POS in the slightest, but a couple scratches on the arm (that frankly could be from pruning a bush or playing with a kitten) aren't nearly as bad at Balta made it sound.  I was expecting a bruised neck with handmarks or something. Unless there is something else out there I didn't see.
